Sharing 20 healthy meal ideas in this video to help you with healthy meal planning. Meal planning and prepping reduces your overall effort in the kitchen and also saves you from the hassle of cooking confusions. When you have a meal plan in hand and that too a healthy meal plan, your cooking and serving can never go wrong.
Every household cooking varies but the base ingredients of any indian cooking remains the same. So I thought of sharing a few tips and advice for healthy meal planning to suit all indian taste buds and give you enough indian meal ideas to cook throughout the week.
In this video I have tried to cover different breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks recipes to enjoy healthy meals anytime of the day. I am also sharing how I do my meal preparation to give you a fair idea. Hope you find them helpful

I meal prep. I also make my own paneer since India always has a lot of power cuts and store-bought dairy products are always spoiled. It's also cheaper. Healthier without preservatives. We buy kilos of carrots and use a food processor to grate them. Then store in Tupperware fridge ware and use for a week in Dosas, curries, Panniyaram, Carrot halwa etc. Leafy greens we buy a day before and clean to cook the next day. Cabbage we finely chop and store to use within 2-3 days. Other veg are also prepped in their own way. I do not prep potatoes and tomatoes. We don't eat onions or garlic. Herbs we chop and use fresh. Meal prep means we don't need to frequent the grocer daily since we buy in bulk and use it throughout the week. To meal prep, we will require very good fridge containers. Cooking fresh is very important. Prepping veg beforehand is saving time. Contrary to belief, the veg does not lose it's nutrients in the fridge if stored properly. Frozen tofu's protein rate is 4 times higher than fresh tofu, though it does become dry and bitter. Best in dumplings.

My in laws believe that frozen or pre cooked and stored in fridge food are bad for health. Even they do not eat leftover lunch item in dinner. I tried so many time to tell them benefits, but they never understood. Also one more thing I am fed up with is that they believe only roti subji dal chawal is complete meal and if I eat pasta (your healthy version of pasta) in dinner it's not ok.

@@madhavipandey7 Pre cooked is not as healthy though. Pre-cut is fine. Cooking and eating fresh is best. Unless it preserved foods like pickles/Tamarind gravy like for Puliodharai. You in-laws are right. There is no health benefit in eating cooked leftovers unless its overnight rice soaked in water in a claypot. Had with buttermilk next morning in summer. Roti subji dal is a complete meal. You have fiber, subji = veggi, dal = protein. You do need carbs though, which you can get from potatoes in a subji. If you eat pasta that's you choice. Don't know why they don't like it. Maybe they are just concerned for you.

@@btsarmyforever3816 pre cooked means like boiled chickpea or potatoes, as swati did in this video. I agree that dal chawal roti sabji is complete meal but sometimes we could make a variation with healthier option. For example if I replace my roti sabji wala dinner by chichpea salad with lots of veggies and boiled potato which are full of fiber (veggies) carb ( potato) and protin (chickpea) . They will not ok with this. I understand their concern but they also need to learn variations in food.

Your welcome. Rather thanks a lot for watching and appreciating :). I keep it in fridge and make sure I consume it any of the meal within 2 days. You can also keep it in freezer for longer shelf life but then de-freezing takes a longer time. Hope this was helpful :)

Hi Anishaa...I am no exception. There are a few things I love doing..most of them are chores only but then the ones I don't like (cleaning utensils), I take help. or I simply try to find my core problems and find solutions my way. Even if they are very small. If summers are a problem, I pick a cooler time to finish laborious jobs. If I want peace while working, I will wait for the kids to sleep. Acceptance is the only way and we only will know better ways to solve our own problems. I am sorry if it sounded like a lecture but I really just operate like this :)

In summer food remains fresh for up to 3 days. After that most of the food starts losing nutrients and freshness. This information is based on USDA. Hope it will help :)

Hi kavita, I used 1/4 cup Chana Daal, 3 cups Rice, 1 cup Udat daal and 1 tsp Methi daana here. :)

For how many days you preserve chickpeas and palak puree in freezer ?

You can store both in fridge for up to 7 days and in freezer for 15 days. But always remember that food nutrients degrades with time. So I aim to finish fresh stocks as soon as possible. 😊

Store in freezer for longer shelf life. You can easily store for upto a month if fridge is in good working condition :)

It depends on the weather. Curd starts getting sour in summer after 3 days. Boiled chickpeas can be store in freezer for upto 15 days :)

Love it but.. you are smart why use animal products for kids? Animal product is for their kids like milk is for calf. We are humans !! Please go vegan
