Lots of great ideas here, Alexandra! Many thanks for putting it together. I am never happy with my seating and am always looking for something else. One tip I read some years ago was to face the seating towards your home, not towards the neighbour's home or the street, as the idea is that you want to be looking at your own garden and home, not someone else's (next door) or a street full of strangers.

That's a good tip - although if you had a spectacular view (or if next door's house was rather special.....)....I think I should have mentioned that...thanks for pointing it out

Great video and a good reminder to take the time to sit in your garden. When I take garden tours my favorite gardens always have plenty of seating. I do struggle with getting placement just right and mixing styles. This video was helpful,

Great stuff - thank you Alexandra. Those coloured benches look great in their settings.

Hi, thanks for the video. One difficulty I have with adding a bench is that I want it to face the garden beds, but it seems like they always look better when put in front of them.

I think you should try it the way you want it, and see how that goes. After all, it's you that's going to sit on it, so you need to enjoy what you see.

Some of them look really nice but with my back & neck (& brain injury) problems none of them would be comfortable & it's too tiring to gather up cushions etc. & carry them in & out every time you go into the garden or back indoors. Solutions for people like me please?

I will look out for them. I don't know if you saw my interview with Mark Lane on how to make a garden accessible for a range of issues, here it is in case it helps: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZ2mmWykjbGlg6c

@@jennyhughes4474 I suggest two possibilities. The first are closed cell foam cushions covered with Sunbrella or similar fabric as one would find on a yacht. Secondly, great improvement has been made concerning exterior cushions for seating. Last year, I bought two chairs with covered cushions. Unlike closed cell, these are extremely permeable so rainwater flows through right them and they dry very quickly. These cushions are very comfortable, more so than the closed cell foam. I'm in the US and purchased these chairs from Pottery Barn. If you are elsewhere then I suggest googling to find a source in your country. It is so sad to learn that you are unable to enjoy sitting in your garden. Take care and best wishes. Maria

@@pinkpeony2056 Thanks you but sadly more complicated than just cushions: mega neck & lumbar pain/injuries & can't find (& try out) lying/relaxing/sitting options = stuffed. Then NOISE in garden. Yes, I know: my needs are too complex ('difficult') after mt terrible accident/injuries & STILL no correct diagnoses from docs or HELP - including from those who injured me = DOCTORS. But thanks anyway, need help from others, local & who have FULL info.

I m o seating should be about in which chair you sit comfortably. And the cat of course.
