$20 Lawnmowers I Bought

I picked up all these lawnmowers for $20 each.

Great deal! I picked up 6 mowers and a Dr trimmer pro for $50 last night, still sorting them out to see how good I did in the dark.

I recently got a Toro Recycler for free along side the road. It was in great shape. it even ran too. The reason they gave it away was because it would move itself. After doing some research, I figured out the drive cable had some slack in it. I tightened it up and now the mower runs and drives great. It even had a new air filter in it too. lol. What a great deal. lol.

Cool finds, I like the Toro a lot. My best cheap buy is my personal mower, it's a 1 year old Brute 22" self propelled. Owner hit something so hard she shatter the flywheel, but one free Briggs Quantum and a good cleaning and tune-up later and this $307.99 cost me probably $55. I got a couple 20" MTDs for $10. Both had good engines and one had a good deck. Also got a free Yard Man and a free Craftsman.

Always good info DB! I remember when Tecumseh switched to the paper air filter on the side. As soon as the filter plugged people would push them to the curb. My Son bought a new car one summer selling all the Craftsman, Murray and MTD mowers that he had fixed plugged air filters on! Keep up the good work, Bob

Lawn mower picking can be fun. Finding that Toro was a real gem for you Mr. D and those machines sell. I picked up a 2003 Lawn-Boy 10323 for 20 dollars that just needed fresh fuel, spark plug cleaning and air filter. Plenty of compression, runs strong and looks like brand new. On a 15F day here in Michigan, it starts right up. I went just a little bit rich with the oil when I first started it, just to be safe for the first 5 minutes of operation.

nice mowers dony, i just picked up a 96 murray 3-in-1 mulch, bag, discharge mower for free. the guy said it needed work. i just put some gas in it and it fired right up, and runs great. not sure what he thought needed work lol

a while ago i bought 3 mowers for $40 all together, 1 was a yard machine 20 inch, it was a super basic mower non adjustable height and onl;y side discharge, i got one of those toros like what you got, but it had a blown transaxle, and the motor needed a new coil, so i sold that for $30. the last one was a yard machine 21 in ch with a bagger, it had a bad motor so i pulled the motor off the small yard machine and put it on the nice deck got $80 for that one. theres money to be made in this stuff

Hey there donny love the vids havent gotten around to fixing my mower i bought of ebay yet but ill be taking your advice that you gave me to fix it. I picked it up for $120 aussie dollar i was starting first go for a while but will have a tinker with it shortly and let you know how i get on ...I cannot believe you got that toro for $20 omg bargain of the century. you now got me thinking if i cannot repair my mower ill sell it for parts and maybe by a new one lol

I just trash picked a Toro Personal Pace mower just like that, but it has a Tecumseh engine instead of a Briggs. All it needed to get running was a spark plug which the previous owner removed. After i mowed with it which it did a great job i noticed that the engine would not start sometimes, and i would have to jerk the band brake cable to get the engine started.

@cnaray thanks, i charged the battery with a 12 volt charger right at the terminals, unseized the starter and it works, i'm wondering if that's why they gave up on it?

We had that same lawn mower! It ran for 28 years first pull. But, we had to get a new lawn mower due to severe deck rust.

HOw true is this video!! picked up a 6.0 Tecumseh on very clean yardman deck at yard sale last saturday guy said did not run paid $10 for it! got it how and changed the fly wheel key and runs like a new one!! So don thanks for teaching my how change fly wheel key!!

Don your killing me!!! I have nothing to do with lawnmower repairs except my own, but that Toro.....I have the same one and bought it brand new from Home Depot, paid About $600 in 2008. So Far the coil has packed it in, 2 of the bolts snapped off when I removed the head cover, and needless to say the battery has long packed it in, which I don't plan to replace. IMO the mulching function of this mower is so-so, and the bag seems to fill to about 1/3 to 1/2 then just doesn't wanna hold any more. But it always starts.

I know this is a old comment but, no you can interchange different parts from different brands if they use Briggs n Stratton engines. Even the engine sizes and years can interchange parts somewhat. If it looks the same it probably is.

I got sme given to me by some friends for 10 buck each there was 4 of them I parted them out and made over 150 bucks sometimes you win sometimes you lose but all the time if there parted out you make a profit . I made a mistake once left 2 3.5 briggs the ones that last forever close to the road and next day they were gone . I was upset I guess someone thought they were scrap so someone got a great deal.
