Thank you for the very clear explanations with matching videos, I would like to request if you can explain why others always mention multiples and you don’t, please tell us the importance of multiples and the formula to get it.

You're very welcome, Jean! The reason I didn't mention stitch multiples in this video is because this hat pattern and the coordinating scarf pattern are paid patterns on my website. I was just demonstrating the long dc stitch used in both patterns. I hope to do a series of videos teaching how to read crochet patterns in the future. I'll be sure to include a video on stitch multiples and why they're important to know.

Thanks for the suggestion, Dina. Unfortunately, I have a ton of other videos to make and not enough time to make them! But I'll put this on my long list! By the way, the 14-page written pattern includes all the instructions to make the hat in 3 different sizes, along with many step-by-step photos of the long dc, joining with a dc and working in the back bump of the foundation chain. I'm so sorry that you can't read patterns, Dina. Would you be interested in a video to learn how to read and follow crochet patterns? That's on my list of videos to make when I have time! KZbin is wonderful for learning! I use it all the time to learn things like craft projects, crochet techniques, decorating and DIY projects for my home! I'm glad I can share some of my crochet knowledge on KZbin, as well, to help others increase their crochet skills and knowledge!

I just tried 3 times to create an account on your website to order the hat pattern but no success. It kept telling me "Invalid password" and to reset it. This is what failed every time. I never received an email on how to reset it. So disappointed!!!

It took a while, but I think my website's password resetting feature is fixed now. Please let me know if it works for you or not. My husband had to go with a different plug in for it. By the way, sometimes the email to reset a password gets put in a spam folder! So please check your spam folder to make sure it hasn't gone in there. I hope it worked well for you. Please let me know if you have any more trouble or have any questions about the pattern(s).

I learned the half double crochet differently. Make your half double crochet in the first stitch but don’t pull the yarn through the three loops. Make. A loop in the next stitch, then pull through all four loops. Not criticizing how you make yours, just telling how I learned it.

Thanks for sharing the way you make your hdc decrease, Charlee. I'll give it a try and see how I like it. It sounds less bulky than the way I've been doing it! Do you yarn over before the 2nd part of the decrease or just before the first part? It sounds like you're starting a sc in the 2nd part of the decrease. Is that right?

I yarn over on the first stitch like a regular hdc, then pull up a loop in the next stitch and pull through 4 loops
