We love that the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings so many of our favorite characters to life on the big screen, but we also appreciate the new wardrobes they get. Let’s be honest, some of the superhero costumes out there leave a lot to be desired. While Emma Frost might enjoy showing off in her all white outfits, someone like Ororo Munroe definitely deserves something a bit more subdued. When Sam Wilson takes over as Captain America, hopefully he picks one of Steve Roger’s better looking outfits as inspiration. And we think his pal Bucky Barnes is better off not reverting to his old legging-heavy outfit. The Scarlet Witch and Captain Marvel have both come a long way since their early story days and that’s definitely not a bad thing. Characters like Venus and Namor the Sub Mariner have to live near the sea but that doesn’t mean they can’t put some layers on when they’re not swimming. Clint Barton got a new edgy look for Avengers Endgame but we’ll show you some of the most ridiculous outfits he’s ever worn.

It’s about dignity... the actors and actresses need to feel comfortable in their costumes, in order to help them to perform their best. Serious is fine when it comes to superheroes, it's great, but taking away that humorous and fun sense that comes with the wacky costumes and designs is something that hurts the hero The tights on the outside were silly, something that was unique and recognizable to the hero genre. Losing it is just... sad. As if something good was lost.

So, okay, let's break it down point by point: 1) The Scarlet Witch is a magician of an incredible level, she can change reality itself with the power of thought, and even flights and fireballs for her are like sneezing. That means, she does not need to move at all, which means she can wear (or not wear) absolutely anything. 2) Shulkie - her emerald skin can easily withstand large-caliber bullets, diamond cutters, fire, acid and most other actions, so in real combat conditions, any clothing (including a Kevlar sapper suit and even power armor from the WH40K universe) will quickly turn into rags. So, again, clothes perform a purely decorative function, but not a practical one. 3) Electra - mostly she's just a human, albeit a very talented and trained one. And although, other things being equal, it would make sense for her to use some kind of protective equipment and a little gadgets, but for this we have Batgirl, who, like the rest of the Bat family, professes the path of the ninja, while Electra is the shinobi. In addition, the actress herself said that the movie Elektra is already overdressed, but solely due to the imperfection of the filming process. 4) Ms Marvel. Everything is complicated here, because there were significantly more than one of them, and some of them went through a rather long process of transformation, during which they voluntarily and compulsorily wore costumes stuffed with Kree medical equipment. And by the way - one of these suits was that bikini with a scarf from the 70s. But basically we can say that Ms Marvel is somewhere in the middle between Shulkie and Scarlet Witch, so again clothes are purely decorative, and if so, why carry too much on herself? 5) Storm, also known as the weather witch. The most functional thing in her costume is a cape, making it easier for her to fly and soar. However, over the past 30 years, she has been more and more often flying without it. 6) Sue Storm - force fields and invisibility. And an affair with Doom (did you really think he accidentally locks her away from the others in a luxury chamber every time from which only a lazy cripple can't escape?) 7) Catwomen of all types - they are cats. And specifically, Tigra is also covered in fur. 8) Emma Frost is a telepath at the level of Xavier and Gina Gray. Plus a few extra abilities. That is, she can literally dodge most attacks before they even start, take the rest head-on, and then force opponents to kill each other. 9) Venus. Dude, read a few books on Greek mythology, a lot will fall into place. 10) All male characters: have muscles - copy Conan the Barbarian, no muscles - copy Kyle Reese

In Defense of Namor, the black outfit with wings was a way for him to live outside of water since he had been exposed to some toxins which put all of Atlantis to sleep and made it hard for him to exist outside of water. It was to keep his skin exposed to water so he could live until Dr. Doom cured him and set him free from his contract with him. Thanks for a good and informative video. in all fairness the Gamora bikini was for a swimsuit edition mag (which I do have) where all the heroes wore swimwear, she never actually fought in it, so it shouldnt really be counted. one thing you have to remember is that the womens outfits and the female heroes bodies (especially during the 80's) were designed to get horny nerds to buy comics, and it worked. I was a border line nerd and I bought a lot of comics in the late 80's and early 90's, many because of the bodies and outfits.

In the actual comic that introduced Steve Rogers as Nomad he himself asks why Cap never was given a cape. He gets his answer the hard way when he's in his first fight as Nomad and ends up tripping on his own cape, and one of the villains laughs and says, "I always wanted to see one of those guys do that." Once Rogers gets up (the villains have left) he (Rogers) tears the cape off his new costume and doesn't use it (the cape) again. (I still have that comic in my collection.)

I hope, once we get Doctor Doom he wears his classic green cloak costume and mask throughout the movie but more in a realistic way. Thanos didn't wear his Titan costume throughout IW and was understandable yet in Endgame he did and the way the suit looked all destroyed, cracked and more was amazing. That's how I expect Doom to look like. The only downside was they didn't do any justice to Hank Pym. Something I also noticed was Gamora from the past looked like the Gamora who killed Thanos in the comics and was a straight up villain. Was that a foreshadowing? Who knows.
