Hi Act Mountain Ash 8... Welcome to what I think is a great hobby... I hope that you enjoy it as much as I have... I don't give many things as presents but I have given 2 Giraffes as gifts and they loved them... I'm sore that your Granddaughter will love yours... I would suggest that you make the groove for the legs while it is still mounted on the lathe... I had trouble gripping it in the vice without damaging it... Have fun making it... Take care...All the best.....Andy

@@AndysCornishCreations Yes, there are moose in Oregon, but just in the very northeastern corner of the state, and only about 60 of them. When I was younger and living in Idaho, I was fortunate to see two moose in the back country while hiking with a friend. We stayed very quiet and out of their way!

Hi Andy 👋🏻 What a lovely tall little creature 😊👍🏻 He looks so good-hearted, our Gerry the Giraffe, one is tempted to get one 😉 Must be the first giraffe in Cornwall! I remember having seen giraffes in Paignton Zoo some thirty years ago… I wonder if they still have them… Anyway, we really must start to think of making a wooden barn big enough to provide room for all the critters you are creating… and I suspect we are not through yet… more to come 😎 That will be great fun for Rexli to play with, can you imagine… Indeed I would like to play with them myself 😊👍🏻 Keep’em coming, Andy… Now that Cornwall seems to be drying up, how about a camel 😉 Glad you are having a dry spell, even though somewhat cold still… Same here, dry but still quite cold 🥶 Take care, Andy, have a lovely week! Byeeee 👋🏻😉👋🏻 Jude

Hi Jude... I'm glad that you like Gerry... He was the only Giraffe in Cornwall until I sent her up to Stockport to my Niece... I've just had a quick look and there is a herd of Giraffes at Paignton zoo... I will have to make another while I can remember how to do it for my collection... Perhaps an Ark would be good, then I could make 2 of each to live in it... By the time I could finish it Rexli would probably be grown up Haha... I have got more planned.. I have had requests for a dog, a turtle, a moose, and I have started working on a Bumble Bee.... but it's proving to be difficult... Remind me in case you have already told me and I have forgotten... what is your favourite animal..?. Haha... Cornwall drying up ... we have just had such a wet and windy week.. everything is soaked again.. A Camel would probably get foot rot Haha... I'm glad that it's dry for you, if a little cold... summer is coming... Have a lovely weekend Jude... Take care...All the best.....Andy 👋😉👋

@@AndysCornishCreations What??!! Gerry has already left Cornwall!!?? Well, this is a bit of a shock, disappointing even 😤 A replacement must be organised at once… You best make two while you are at it, Andy… Loyalty does not seem to be these giraffes‘ strong suit 😬 Why not make a big one and a small one as well… Father and son… Chuck and Charlie, 2nd and 3rd giraffes in Cornwall 😃👍🏻 I would also have a great name up my sleeve for a camel… Larry (from Lawrence 😉), 1st camel with webs on the hooves in Cornwall… but maybe this is a tricky one… like the bumble bee… I wonder how you get to turn the wings on a lathe… Well, let‘s see 😎🤞🏻As for my favourite animal, mmmhhh 🤔 I find hedgehogs very cute, and we have had dogs and pigs and cows and peacocks and pigeons and bees and trout and even two desert spring mice, but I guess I would have to say CAT 🐈 for my most favourite animal 😊😁 Looking forward to Bill the bloated bumble bee then 😉😂 Just kidding, I am sure it will look great 👍🏻🐝 Have a great and hopefully dry and sunny Sunday, Andy, take care 🙏🏻 Bye for now 👋🏻😉👋🏻 Jude

The two sizes is a great idea and I will name them Chuck and Charlie... Larry the webbed footed Camel in Cornwall... hmmmm.. and I do live in Camelford.. It could be tricky to make.. and I would get the hump if it went wrong... Haha.. I will look into making a Cat ... that's going to be interesting... I'm still struggling with Bill...
