In this drawing video i sketch a monster concept in 20 minutes and talk about my process as I draw in real time. I use purple bic pen and artify marker on white paper to draw this. Thanks for watching! #dailysketch

Nice sketch! Great forms/shadows! As far as ultra-realism goes, I can respect the artists that spend the tons of hours to get their piece to look just like the reference, but it’s not for me. Doing more stylized, illustrative work from your mind is so much more fun! 👍

photo realism is usually traced, there is prob a few people that dont need to trace, but with that amount of detail, you usually need to have those traced lines to work from. its a tool to use. people get mad at artists that use reference photos, which is just another tool. not everyone needs those reference, but it doesnt hurt to have them available for when you do need them.

Coo drawings man I love drawing both ways seems like I drawgrom imagination when I'm trying to brush up on a skill set like texter or shading but I like having a reference to do hyperrealistic drawings if that makes since lol thanks man

Nice video as usual Trav. I like the set up. I'm curious if you ever have trouble using ballpoint pens with alcohol markers? For me I find it smudges or ruins my markers somewhat

Sketchy trav I really really appreciate ALL your drawing videos, thank you man, I've learned a lot from your videos. Hey trav, I got this issue with my art though, most of my art is like 95% reference based an when i try to draw from my mind it seems as if all my talent is none existent wich makes me second guess my self as an artist and at times I'll go on a hiatus because of it, like I'm not an artist unless i have a reference any tips?... Lol sorry man i know it's bit long of a comment. Huge fan man, thank you for all your work.

I think this is a problem a lot of artists have so will talk about it in my sketchbook video tomorrow.

I like that you are using that kind of "wasted" space for another angle. Although I understand that it might be the best to keep the drawing itself in the center, somehow it feels unbalanced to me, or I don't know. I assume if you moved the drawing a little to the right (a little more away from the smaller front view, maybe centered in the remaining space), that would work better. But I'm not sure.

That was actually exactly what I had planned to do but had to get up and moved my sketchbook and forgot to reposition my top camera. The next video will be positioned better.
