I started playing D1 when I was in 6th grade. I didn't know what was going on, I just enjoyed shooting things and the cool space magic. This franchise really saw me grow up and I love it for that. It's really sad to see how it's been handled. Once you've become a legend though, your light never stops shining

Man I remember running that taken king mission back in the day with my buddy who had never played destiny before. I let him run ahead to the door because I knew what was coming and he got blasted off the edge by the phalanx. Good times on D1… wish I could be back in those days.

I played D2 before I played D1, and I remember when I first tried D1 I realized that I recognized so much of it. As soon as I opened the game it occurred to me that my brother used to play it all the time and I’d watch him play, I just never knew what game it was.

You can still play it. There's a digital port of Destiny (1) on the Xbox store, you'd just have to rebuy it at full price because the digital re-release includes all of the DLC, there is no way to buy just the standalone base game on digital, but that doesn't mean you can't buy it at all or download digitally.

@@Forcer69 ughhh, Forcer, the Series S is digital only. No disk drive. It's basically the "slim" version of the Series X, but I don't think they currently sell an official disk drive add-on like how Sony made one for the PS5 slim.

@@_R-R yeah, they completely reprised Gjallahorn and made it a Rise of Iron weapon, so if you don't have the "Destiny Collection" than it's locked behind DLC because they don't sell seperate expansions on Xbox anymore, only way to get the Iron Gjallahorn is through a promo code that came with a pre-order of RoI. You can still use the Legacy version from Y1 if you don't have any of the DLC collection, but it's capped at 180 Power like the rest of the Y1 weapons.

We get it, Destiny 2 is better, has all of the QoL features and improvements, massive amounts of replayable content and advanced build crafting, regular updates and a larger playerbase, that clearly make it the better game, but that doesn't mean someone can't prefer one over the other. I like D1 more that D2, who cares that much?

@@lazyvoid7107 I haven't seen any yet, but it'd be a little weird if you came back just to check. You know you don't have to deal with them, right? Like not trying to be a dick, but you can just ignore those comments and pretend you don't see them? Gatekeeping exists in every community, people will (and do) believe Destiny 1 is better than Destiny 2 and that's okay. They've earned that opinion if they've played both, compared how they were managed and enjoy the content and gameplay of one more than the second. Like how I personally thought Skyrim stunk and tell myself Oblivion was better, people are allowed to disagree and point out why I should know Skyrim is the better Elder Scrolls game, but that isn't going to change how I feel. Games are objectively rated higher than others based on critical feedback and player experience, sometimes a game might not be percieved as "better" to the majority eye, while others will choose to defend the weaker components of a different title because they truly believe that game is better than what's currently offered. I personally have more of a problem with the people that believe D2 is peak and if Bungie "could" (which at this point, probably isn't happening) make a sequel, a potential D3, that it wouldn't be as good as D2 because apparently, according to other members of the community, Bungie isn't capable of growth and D2 is the best they could ever offer. It's like pre-gatekeeping. But that's just me.
