Some great guidelines. Question about rebalancing. Looking back over the past 10 to 20 years, had I trimmed my 400% to 600% winners I would have cut my gains not increased them. I have stuck with sticking with my winners. If a company is doing well, you have to sit tight to get the bigger long term rewards. Partially selling off any of these winners would have also generated tax bills. I think rebalancing should only be done to cull out poor performers.

How should you transition out of a long time position in a Target date fund to low cost index funds? The target date fund has higher fees, low returns and less flexibility in retirement.
