Bette Davis never quipped "I'd like to kiss you but I just washed my hair" to a suitor. That was one of her character's lines in "Cabin in the Cotton." Most of these women didn't fit traditional gender stereotypes.

Marlene Dietrich was cruel because she became an American citizen and helped entertain our troops overseas during WWII??? Sounds like she deserved a Medal of Freedom not accusations of cruelty.

Her cruelty was perhaps more displayed in n her personal life. Her daughter- her only child - wrote a book highly critical of her mother’s self-centered nature.What do you think about this issue?

They were women who didn't put up with crap especially in Hollywood. They weren't submissive.

Most of these women had such horrible taste in men… it caused the majority of their problems.
