GRID 2008 was an outstanding arcade game at the time. The campaign is diverse and rich, I remember playing it and feeling the need to beat the Ravenwest team.., I was hooked from the beginning. Is one of the 1st games to introduce the rewind system. How smooth the cars drove at the time, It was such a blast! and still is today for arcade racing. Good pick for this list!

For a rally game there is no competition with WRC from evolution studios. The atmosphere is spot on, from random rock's that fall from the cliff, spectator cross the road, weather change, rival car that got accident and the driver argue with the co driver on side of the road, the damage car visual is great, the co driver that truly feel alive, but yeah, the physic is arcade but fun to drive. It is very pleasing for Playstation 2 games

My favourite racing and/or driving games are 1080 avalanche on Gamecube, Excite Truck on Wii, Cruis'n Blast, Wreckfest, and Snowrunner on Switch. You can probably tell I'm not much into sim racing, or even cars. Burnout 2 and 3, Need for Speed Nitro, and the Mario Kart series have also given me many hours of fun throughout the years. If I had to pick just 3, it'd be Wreckfest, Snowrunner, and Cruis'n Blast, so I can crash lawnmowers with a harvester, slowly manoeuvre challenging terrain, and race / fight with a flying neon hammerhead shark.

When it comes to newer NfS games, I go for the 2015 one. It still looks and play as it came out, so absolutely perfectly. And for me, it captures the underground street racing culture greatly too. Not even mentioning the OST, what a bangers.

Solid picks, my suggestions to add to that would be 1. Choro Qs fpr psx, i swear probably the first racing game with free roam segment. 2. Forza Horizon 3, it just feels lively and joyful. 3. Sonic All-Star Racing transformed, fun alternative to those who can't game Mario Kart. 4. Need For Speed shift/shift 2, probably the souls-like of racing games. 5. Gas Guzzlers Extreme, bonkers combat racing. 6. Dirt showdown, all around fun game.

I literally just played Drive club on my PS4 Pro a few weeks ago and was absolutely having a blast!!!! When the game first came out, I got it and I remember I played so much Gran Turismo at the time that I just could not play drive club ?!? I couldn't keep the arcade physics style, racing car, on the road... Well, fast-forward to a few weeks ago and I've not played Gran Turismo in a while, and I picked up the game and was racing perfectly and having a blast and wasn't finding myself having nowhere near the amount of difficulty I had when it first came out!!! And damn sure still looks good !!!

BallisticNG is an amazing Wipeout spiritual successor. Super fast and controls just like the classics on the PS1. It also has a tonne of user made tracks included recreations of some of the best from the Wipeout series.

I've always liked motorstorm the most but I recently got my hands on the Midway arcade treasures collection volume 3 on the PlayStation 2. In that collection is a arcade game called Off-road thunder. I can't say it's better than motorstorm but I absolutely love it. Off-road thunder is a badass racing game whether it's the PS2 port or the original arcade game it's a must play racing game.

24:28 No bud, the GT Cafe is NOT a cool feature, it is in fact the WORST feature of GT7. In previous games, you would be allowed to pick between a number of cheap cars you can afford and race events in any order you like, as long as you can meet requirements for each event, with several tracks unlocked for arcade from the get go. That freedom does not exist in GT7 as in the beginning of the game, you pick one out of three cars that you are going to win anyways in one of three events on three basic oval tracks which are the ONLY available tracks until you reach high enough Car Collector levels and go through the Cafe books. The events aren't even challenging as they don't have car damage, fuel, or tire wear, nor do they use the weather system, making the whole process a glorified tutorial. The ONLY REASON that the single player isn't complete garbage because of this is that content updates allow you to play actual interesting events as you unlock certain courses like group 3 races with tire and fuel wear where the cars start in a legit rolling formation instead of a ridiculous drawn out single file line that has you 30+ seconds behind the leader to start! Gran Turismo is good in terms of physics, graphical fidelity, and online competition, but it is very flawed in its single player offerings, the first 4 Gran Turismos are better for single player

You could've easily put all of the Forza Horizon games on this list because every one of them is awesome!!!! But I understand the video would've went on forever then... the first crew game could've been on here also even though it's graphics are dated today, that was a super fun and chill racing game to sit back and play whenever you didn't want to have to sweat so much in the challenge of other racers, the crew was super fun and had just enough realism that if you know how to race, then you could easily win race after race online racing on country roads and highways and city streets. It was awesome!!

WRC Generations is a lot better than EA Sports WRC. In fact, the only best thing in EA WRC is the dust clouds. And DiRT 5 is the worst racing game in this list where even side ribbons are actual brick walls!! So stupid! Other racing games that "should be in your collection" are: Colin McRae DiRT 2, Monster Energy Supercross 2, MXGP3, Dakar Desert Rally, Baja Edge of Control and Wreckfest, just to mention a few.

I've been playing Forza Horizon 4 since I was able to get the full version of it with the DLC expansions on Steam for only around $25 Canadian considering it's being delisted later in the year. I'm in no rush to play Forza Horizon 5 since the lack of seasons make it seem like a step down from 4 and I'm a big fan of autumn and winter in racing games. I won't touch the modern Forza Motorsport game since I refuse to buy any game without offline saves and also because I recently got a working XBox 360 after my previous 360 died two years ago so I can play Forza Motorsports 2 through 4 again. Forza Motorsports 3 and 4 in particular still look modern enough to me despite FM 3 already being a decade and a half old.
