CORRECTIONS to some factual errors that were brought to our attention: #12 SPRINGWOOD ESTATE - 1 square mile (not 1000) #19 SCHUYLER MANSION - President Millard Fillmore married in 1858 (not William, not 1855)

We lived in westchester county when I grew up and my father was a huge history buff. I can’t count the times we drove up and down the Hudson River. I was married in the Catskills and for years my husband and our children took the same routes enjoying the views, the sights and the fabulous restaurants. It is somewhere you have to see!

I used to live in Beacon between Poughkeepsie and Garrison. Beautiful part of the river. My family used to visit many of these places when I was young including Boscobell and FDRs home in Hyde Park. I miss the history of the area that goes all the way back to the early Dutch settlers and our nation's beginnings.

Well I'm a Brit living in NJ & while I have been to the Catskills several times in NY State I have never heard of all of this beautiful history on the other side of the river - wow ! was my reaction - these places are not advertised anywhere that I have seen, so this is the first time anybody has told me about any of these places. Would love to do some touring to view them myself ! Thank you for a really inspiring video !

Lovely video--I'm glad to say I've been to most of those on your list and they're well worth a visit for anyone who loves historic architecture, decorative arts, and Hudson River scenery. There are two more mansions I'd like to mention: Lindenwald, in Kinderhook, the home of President Martin Van Buren; and Edgewater, in Barrytown, which used to be privately owned but was sold in 2018 to the Classical American Homes Preservation Trust and is now open to the public.

I was born and raised here and lived here my whole life. The fall is beautiful!!💜🌈💜Whats funny back in 1982 my first apartment I could see the Hudson River from every room my little apartment the walkway on the Hudson and Hudson River Bridge!! The walkway was just a rundown railroad bridge at the time. I had quite the view beautiful sunsets and my rent was even cheaper that the average rent at that time. A whopping $175 a month plus utilities!! I can only imagine what the charge now 2023! I grew up in Staatsburg, NewYork border Hyde Park. My grandmother bought house and land only 4 thousand dollars and my family build their houses there including my Dad. My High school was on road we lived called Franklin D. Roosevelt. My grandma remember Roosevelt drive down our road. She moved here from NJ in mid 1940s.

Quite interesting, but this wouldn't be the internet if there weren't someone like me to nitpick. Springwood, the Roosevelt estate, certainly wasn't 1000 square miles--one square mile is closer to the true figure. And who is President William Fillmore, who married in the Schuyler mansion in 1855? We had a President Millard Fillmore, but he married, for the second time, in 1858, to a woman with a different name than you gave. I'm not sure where, but they lived in the Buffalo area, not near the Hudson.

This is very interesting and live West of Albany and have not visited yet any of these mansions, and now see we really should! There are some more West of Albany as the Clark family owned the large mansion which they have been doing over now with donations and they charge a little for tours of the Hyde Park at Glimmerglass State Park. The Carter's own alot of land which now is a lovely are on the lake hear Cooperstown NH and this mansion sits high on a hill, they have various events during the Summer months, and the tours are very nice. It is a ''fifty'' room mansion. (Not sure if videos are allowed though, so guess, I am sure you always ask anyway?) *This may be one more you would like to add to your documentaries.?* They do have quite a history and the family also had much land in other countries as they had workers on their Jamaican lands, and they moved from England and Mr.Carter had a wife who would not move with him and later he re- married Fenimore Cooper's, brother's widow. In the end, the family made her leave once her husband passed and the young part of the family took over. Forgot just where it fits in, but think at some point the Clark family are involved in living there or owning it also, but do not remember just how it fit in, or if it did? Would need to red up on this again. I have been there, but it was while ago. Also, they have had people who have in the past mentioned seeing a glimpse of perhaps the spirit of Mr. Carter and other interesting stories too numerous to mention, Thank you for sharing these lovely historic mansions!

My Great Grandmother was a Livingston. There are many estates built by Livingstons on their land, the Livingston Manor. Clermont was the center.

We also have Livingston ancestry, but haven't found any links to the first settlers. Ours immigrated in 1764 with Thomas Clark.

@@lilibetp most of my ancestors came before year 1700. On my Father's side they came here in 1609/10 winter. The starvation time. On my mother's side her ancestors came on the Mayflower. But she also has ancestors coming on the Winthrop Fleet.

@@earlofsmeg most of mine, too, came before 1700, including Stephen and Constance Hopkins on the Mayflower. A few families came over in the 1700s and 1 family in the 1853, I think.

@@lilibetp Hopkins' are my ancestors too. My mother is Brewster and her mother was Bradford. I am related to most of the Mayflower passengers.

Fun fact about the Livingston family: both presidents Bush were descended from the Livingstons. Another fun fact: David Crosby of Crosby, Stills and Nash was a Van Cortlandt.

Don't use mwxhanical narration. It cheapens the video. The visuals are good, but the robotic delivery is very off-putting.
