An excellent video! Comprehensive, well researched and presented. As a college student in Rhode Island, I worked as a waiter serving a private dinner and the midnight brunch at the 1977 America's Cup Ball at the Rosecliff Mansion. Truly a night to remember!

Maybe the top 15 remaining mansions. In the late 1800s, South Prairie Avenue had dozens of mansions of Chicagoland's movers and shakers. Recently I saw a 3d representation of the 1893 World's fair, it would interesting to have a 3d walking tour of this area as it looked in 1903.

Interesting point: The Vanderbilt Museum is located in Suffolk County and is run by Suffolk County, The comment by the publisher of this video that the Museum was left to Nassau County is just mistaken.

I've been to the Newport mansions 5 times now. They still take my breath away everytime. I'm from the UK but have family in Jamestown

New York subway stations are so filthy I have to close my eyes while waiting. Why pay so much to live there when you have beautiful clean neighborhoods in suburbs for 1 third the price

I like the Marble House the best. I must admit, if it were mine, I'd have more modern Furniture throughout. Sacrilege, I know 😅

I'm going to save up my pennies until I get to, um $10-$30 million USD - so I can pick up a sweet "summer house". Then I'll have to find a winter house! All these houses and I will have crumbled to dust by the time I've saved enough pennies though.

I always wondered, why these rich people build such mansions? Most of the rooms are empty for the whole time. The owner, possibly, had been in each of them once in his time. It's a great sin to have all these castles, while millions of people live under the bridges...

Which one of these "rich, exclusive" neighborhoods have the least (preferably zero) number people of a certain nondescript, dark complexion racial group whose members resemble Nordic Europeans? That's the one I want to move into, and I have the moolah! 😆😆😆

My long term partner and I visited Newport in the late 1980s and we toured each of the Newport homes featured in the video. They were amazing, each remarkable and unique. One thing I always recalled about The Elms: the garden had one of the beautiful beech trees I have ever seen.
