Life Force's graphics are objectively SIGNIFANTLY better than Gradius', it should have taken that spot.

Here's a random thing, but SNES can have four fully overlapping background layers all with basically this level of visuals plus additional transparency effects and stuff too, as well as the normal full-colour SNES sprites as well, which is something almost no developers actually used. And you can see some examples of what could be done with that if properly taken advantage of on my own channel. Just mentioned it because this always pops into my head when I see nice NES visuals. :)

This list should include some unlicensed games! I remember when I bought a cartridge with the Eu version of Aladdin (it was "playable" 🤣 but looked like sh... ehh), and after a few days a friend came to me with a new game to play, a pirated version of Aladdin which looked like a next gen game to us at the time 😅 ... and it cost 1/5 of the original!

Nope, battletoads is still the best. The semi 3d levels still hold up today and were never done before. Ninja GAIDEN 3 had the best graphics of that series
