@@cetus835 I think the biggest set back for the game was it was a full $60 release for what felt like 1/2 a game. The gameplay wasn't anything special. It was a pretty normal 3rd person cover to cover shooter. But it ends right when you think the main juice is about to be squeezed. I got it for $10 and it is by far the best $10 game I have ever played. Just feels incomplete and I wish sony would green light a sequel.

I was disappointed Watch Dogs didn't live up to what was promised, but i absolutely loved what was there. The music, the "hacker" gameplay. What really made WD memorable for me was the intruder game play. Perfectly hiding, sometimes in plain sight, watching the other player frantically look for you. Hope the franchise makes a comeback.

I played it on Game Pass and it was mid af. After the revival of AAA survival horror that was RE7 and RE2 Remake, people were itching for another AAA survival horror from the creators of Dead Space but Callisto Protocol turned out to be mediocre linear action slop. Like seriously, your setting is a prison set in Jupiter’s moon and they made you go in a straight line? If they let us explore the prison in RE2 Remake style then it would have been a 9/10 game. What wasted potential.

@osamu_90 2 ай бұрын
@@haidarnaufaldy1889It's actually still ambiguous, we've seen Vault-Tec discussing dropping the nukes first in the TV series but we don't know if they _actually_ were the first. Mr. House in New Vegas said he thought they had plenty of time, but it turned out they didn't (implying some faction beat Vault-Tec to the idea; the party at the start of the show supports the idea that they were taken by surprise). Tim Cain also thinks Vault-Tec could not have been the first and said it was China that launched the nukes first in his envisioned lore (he ultimately leaves it up to Bethesda though). I like what Leonard Boyarsky said, it doesn't matter who did. The ambiguity gives it a whodunnit element and should not need to be answered. FO2 implied an AI started it for fun, FO3 implied aliens did it, it could really be anyone.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone complain that Spore was unenjoyable and mediocre.....even today it's one of the best creature creators out there and they did expand the game with Galactic Adventures that made it even better Creating your own missions where you can customise literally everything (buildings, characters, story, sound, effects, dialogue...and loads more) was fantastic What was even better about that expansion was the online feature where you could share or play adventures of other people and most importantly it made the space stage a lot more enjoyable, since you're mostly stuck in a space ship it was always nice seeing your character again

tbh imo Spore is a pretty solid game and is a big Childhood memories for the fans of Maxis, the Evolutionary stage from the micro organism to Fully Land to Sky creature is great and very fun part of the game, but when u enter the Tribal and Civil Age, the game turn from adventure to RTS, which honestly comparing the Tribal to Civilization Age ironically the tribal Era is wayyy more fun im my humble opinion, its just what you do in Civil Age is just claim spice on land, claim spice on sea, attack this, convert this, trade with this and prty much only that. meanwhile on tribal stage you actually play it like an actual rts games, get some population up, create building for more weapons and tech, gather food from various source and the choice to Attack or Befriend other Tribal Group, and the combat honestly way more better than the Civil Age Land,Naval,Sky combat provide. and yes also the Space Stage is also a bit underwhelming cuz i agree if only the dev spent more time on this stage and try more various stuff to test in this stage, it honestly could be the No Man Sky of that Era, The World is HUGE but its just lots of it are meant for nothing, only provides some Flora & Fauna to be taken to your own Solar system for the purpose of Terraforming, and yeah there's also Treasure here n there but that's about it. The Lore is what i have more interest for since it is way more engaging than the Gameplay ngl, It relates back to the treasure you found on some planet, lots of it have a very good lore story about how was it there and what its made for. there's also lots of unique solar system and cool Star System that are great too visit (like some Blackholes, Wormholes, etc) and even unique planets existed. heck even our Real Solar system is in the game lol (ive seen it in game and its funny how small Earth is in that game) overall yeah i feel like about 45-60 % of the game have done quite right but the rest of it are bit underwhelming. but hey, the Creation Mode is actually where this game Sparks! its very fun to create some silly Creatures, buildings, vehicles,etc in this game lol and also There is mods to support more Creation Kit for the player to use it for our own creativity, this is where ive seen people have made some crazy stuff that are impossible to make without mods (like some Dragons or even eldritch being lol) so come on now man, Spore Creation is not all about PP Monster 🤣

Then it came out and was basically just GTA as a twin stick shooter. 2. Atomic Heart. Incredible graphics, and a BioShock look. It ultimately was the studios first ever game however but nobody seemed to take that into account. If you try to compare it to BioShock then yeah you're gonna be disappointed. But if you view it as these guys never made a game before and this was their first attempt then its bloody incredible

Hatred wasn't hyped. The environmental destruction was good from what I heard tho, but calling what had been a controversy a hype is quite far fetched, I know exactly 1 Person who bought it and that one only bought it out of spite - everyone knew about it but barely anyone actually cared about it at the end of the day.

@@frostbite3820 630k sales is good for indie that's true, but I disagree that GTA does the same thing, most don't care about the controversy there and just wanted it because the consensus was that it's generally a good game (or franchise for that matter), somethig people would play at a friends house and instantly go out to buy it themselves (e.g. GTA San Andreas was in most households here already before some weird person on TV tried to act like you could dismember bodies with a chainsaw) - whereas hatred was mainly bought out of spite due to the online controversy surrounding it.

I nearly jumped out of my chair when I saw Hellgate London. I've been telling people "Yeah, the game isn't... well it's kind of bad? But there's just *something* about it that makes me want to love it." Since the servers shut down. It was a real second shot to my heart to see the re-release on Steam basically be a copy-pasta of the Korean version, etc. etc. Still a highlight of my childhood. And then I saw Advent Rising. It feels like this list was curated FOR ME. Another game I absolutely adored in my childhood.

I'll agree as Spore wasn't "Overhyped" in the standard fashion. You had a few paid off mags hype it up, but everyone already knew it was going to suck out loud, so there was no actual "hype" for a game promising something technologically today's developers barely can accomplish.

Callisto protocol IS what got me to buy dead space remake , i enjoyed Callisto and loved it , and i wish for more . Callisto and dead space are two different titles , both are awesome and fun and thrilling to play . Callisto definitely needed some polishing and more work on some things , that extra somthing might made the game epic . Every body kept sying that DS2 was way cooler than the first one , but in my opinion DS1 was phenomenal ( DS2 was nice , but not like the first one ) . I'm not gonna mention the third . Callisto is way better than most game coming out today , you can barley find a good one , lets face it , Great games are scarce ...

When Evolve would have released nowadays it probably wouldn't have that much of a problem as back then. Even the "bad" dlc politics wouldn't be that big of a problem anymore. It's nearly the same modell as dead by daylight is running. They just would have to make hunters and monsters be "earnable" to unlock them through playing as an option to real money(maybe tweak prices a bit) and they would need to fix bugs/stability. Otherwise it probably would do fine nowadays. At least there is no similar game hitting this niche i am aware of. Asymmetrical gameplay in form of real bossfights on this scale.

Spore is a lot better than you're giving it credit for, to the point I kinda doubt you've played it. Particularly in regards to your comment about doing one stage and you've played enough. Cell/creature stages follow a similar "explore and upgrade" formula, but then tribal/civilization stages are basically mini-RTSes with significant differences from each other, and the space stage is basically a mini-4X in realtime. It's definitely not some masterpiece, but it has a major cult following for a reason. There are still KZbinrs even bigger than you doing regular challenge videos on it.

Callisto was good, I just think the internet doesn’t know how to play it properly, then complain about the small things in gameplay, and others behind them follow like a massive bandwagon. The only fair criticism I would say is that the saving system is terrible considering auto and manual save barely made any difference, the story made no sense, and DLC expansion should’ve come included with the game considering how lacking the base game is after you beat it.

Advent Rising is actually my favorite game of all time. Played it multiple times, loved the powers in it as well as the story. I remember reading in a magazine about it and watching the trailers online before youtube was really a thing, i definitely was hyped for it. Biggest let down was no sequel for me. I wish they could remake this to at least save the story.

Only good thing about Back 4 Blood is that it's frequently on sale, is something "new" and offers crossplay - something loads of people have pointed out during the open beta, yet tons still bought it somehow and then complained.

My disappointment with Back 4 Blood was that everybody was disappointed with it. I actually loved that game. It's not the simple, fast, and super fun game that Left 4 Dead was, but it's not bad IMHO. Other than the BS stuff (like special spawns right after another), among other things like same-y levels, weird pacing, needs too much team coordination, etc... it was actually a pretty solid shooter with some nice customizations for fun and weird builds. I particularly loved the builds. Some people think it's too cumbersome, and I totally get where they're coming from.
@Unknown_Genius

@@clockwork204 They created the disappointment people had tho, if you plaster "From the makers of Left 4 Dead" everywhere (and leave out that Valve did a ton to make it playable, including not allowing them to release it before it's actually finished and polished as well as scratching things that'd rather hinder the flow than make it fun) and then end up with a budget left 4 dead wanna be then yes, people are going to be disappointed. Is B4B the worst game ever? No. Is it worth the full price they asked for? nope. Do I agree with the bs patching they did where they blamed speedrunners for having to nerf movement speed cards because they'd "run ahead of others in public matches" (fully ignoring that speedrunners don't play public matches, generally not admitting that they never gave a thought to the fact that there's always people pushing ahead of the group even without extra speed) instead of standing up for their fail? Absolutely not. Do I trust the company that not only parted with valve because "We were forced to actually make a finished game" and had their previous title shut down to revive it as a f2p and sell people everything as mtx again? Also no. Overall its okay if you got friends on console and want to play something like left 4 dead crossplay (and get it on a massive discount), but it's fully overshadowed by how baseline it is and the companies history, both before they made B4B and during the time they supported B4B - hell, we don't even know yet if they'll repeat the "shut it down, re-release it as a new f2p remake just to shut it down again" bs so even getting it on sale is hard to recommend.

@@Unknown_Genius Yeah that's true. Turtle Rock kind of set the expectations way up there, then made something that's only similar at the very surface level. Again... I actually liked the game, even with its flaws (though people speeding through the level definitely does ruin games). But this ain't the Left 4 Dead people were expecting.

So for Homefront, I recall hearing that in its inception, the invaders were meant to be China(which is more plausible than North Korea being the bad guy). But the developers were basically forced by the publishers to change it, as otherwise it might harm potential sales for the game in Asia, since gaming was becoming bigger in China around the time compared to the previous decade. Hence the complete shift in background story.

I worked on Advent Rising. The game wasn't conceived by marketing it was fully conjured up by Donald Mustard of chair entertainment. He used to say all the time when he came to majescos office that he was gonna " revolutionize gaming " with Advent. While the rest of us begged management to cancel the game. True story that you'll never hear because some people are high up on the food chain in games and can't look bad. We all knew it was a turd.

I don't care if people involved in making the game thought it was a turd, it's still one of my favorite games. I enjoyed the gameplay, mixing and matching the weapons, then eventually the powers. And I still lament that Orson Scott Card never got to finish the story. It pains me that I never got to find out where the narrative was headed.
