It really is kind of amazing how much of an epic fail the PlayStation Classic is. Sony had no excuse; Nintendo already put out a "Classic" system months before them, to mostly good reviews---they effectively wrote the book on how to produce a good retro console. All Sony had to do was copy their homework...and they still failed. Literally no R&D was required to make a good product and even _that_ was too hard. How is that possible?

Pedantic, but FF7 was actually running 25FPS (PAL)/30FPS (NTSC). Notice how the frame counter has two numbers? The first is the internal FPS, that being the FPS of the game itself, and the second being the external FPS, which is the emulator's.

Well technicly neither is 50 or 60 fps, it's just 25 and 30 and output goes at 50 in pal and 60 in ntsc. Pal version wouldnt be bad if games would use higher resolution that pal has but no game ever used it they were always done incredibly lazily for pal

Dualshocks on the PS1 was kinda... not great tbh. Every game HAD to be playable with the standard controller, so the games were balanced around that. The only game that I know off that isn't like that is Ape Escape, and it uses the sticks differently to modern games... So it kinda makes sense tbh.

Honestly, I don't know what to recommend man. It depends what kind of player you are. If you appreciate fast-paced, hardcore games, I suggest DOOM, but if you want something calmer and more relaxing, I suggest something like Mine craft, or EVERYTHING. Or, if you just want combat and nothing but combat, then I'd recommend SNK, and last but not least if you want a good game I suggest smash ultimate. A large part of the PlayStation's success was that it didn't have a single defining game that made it iconic; it had MANY defining games! It was a joy to be a gamer during the PS1 era as it made good games affordable to play (to play a game like doom or command and conquer back then you had to have a £800+ home pc!) and gave people all new gaming experiences, Silent Hill, Metal Gear, Pepsiman (lol) If they put 100 games up on it that still isn't enough to make this console prove how awesome it was. i am sure happy that sony completely botched it up so that it can be hacked to be the console for YOU, who probably have a totally different list of classic favourites to me. cheers to the hack!

I really don't think this emulation is worth it. If it was something Sony put a lot of time and effort into doing, had great games, and fixed all these "issues" it could be worth it. But realistically, it's much easier to buy a game you like for a couple bucks, pop it into your PC, and use something like PCSX, PSXFin, or ePSXe to play them on your PC, and it's not like you need much to play these games, my wife's old PC was rocking a Core 2 Pentium and a 128MB graphics card, and it ran everything smooth as butter. Chances are, if you like tech or PS1, you have something to run them, your PC, a Raspberry Pi, hell even your phone can do it (if you use a USB CD/DVD reader with an OTG adapter) so yeah, there's 3 ways to play these games that's better for less.
