The art world is experiencing a famine in terms good content. There is a lot of good technique but quality content is MIA. Horror, gore, violence, sleeze, immoral characters do not make up quality content. Sure this stuff may attract an audience but just because it has support and a lot of people enjoying it doesn't make it wholesome. Plus the stuff I see at these expos comes nowhere close to the classical masters and other great artist of the past eras. Even the best of the best artists today with all the available digital help including 3D aren't able to pass the greats who used traditional mediums. Admittedly one does has to dive into the past artworks and spend some time researching this to realise how true this is.

Out of all my 11 years of being a commission artist the biggest secret I could probably tell is to not overcomplicate things. The greatest artists we all revere and their art and pieces we all love and reference always appear complete and the 'best' version of itself, and if we try emulating the level of such art, we (especially beginner artists) quickly fall down a depressing spiral. Always remember that those artists and their art all started from something and somewhere small start small; learn the fundamentals, grind on the paper and keep on drawing as you expand your visual library, KEEP ON STUDYING/PRACTICING, greatness takes time. Remember, even the tallest of buildings had to be constructed from clear patch of land. trust the process.
@theinsaneartist63652 жыл бұрын
hey thanks for this the reason I created my channel to test how far my grindset is. Totally true, it takes a lot of couarge and passion to be good what you do.

This was great comment, I unfornatualety I myself have been trying to emulate artists I inspire only to get frustrated but it does take a lot time and paitence to imrpve your craft.
@leifdux72772 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the great motivation! I started a KZbin channel in hopes I could document my art progress as well as connect with other beginner artists who could be of a similar path as mine. As I have done this for almost one year, I have come to realize (like you have said), greatness really does take time. I guess with all the social media and the Internet, I presumed that I can improve "within 3 months by doing..." (with all those thumbnails and all...) Initially, this discouraged me so much because I wasn't improving as fast as I wanted to, but realized that I need to distance myself from the results and believe in the process. It's only when I actually did the drawing on paper that I come to realize this.

What I got from these amazing artist in this video. - Focus on growth and not numbers. - Learn from your failure and don't let it down. - Be patient with yourself, you need to get through the process to get to your goal. - Take care of yourself, your body, rest when you need to. - Consistency, draw everyday even as little as you want, you might find inspiration in your work. - Draw what makes you happy and follow your guts. - Find what you are passionate about, do what you love the most. - Create your own style first to let people know what you kind of art style you make. - If you wish to join a specific studio with certain style that you like, create art closer to their style so that your portfolio will be more recommendable to them. - Just do it! don't be afraid to take the chance, if you never try~ you'll never know~ it could be wooooorse~. - Be true to yourself and connect with others who value your work and you value theirs. - Practice with the right mindset, empty your cup in order to accept teachings from mentors or tutorial. - When taking a big project, divide it to goals in order to accomplish it. - Take criticism to learn from mistakes that you might have missed if you want to improve. - Learn to love what you want to do or what you want to be. - go to Ross Draws website if you want metal prints

The biggest threat to digital artist for me is social media, comparing yourself to other artist, ohh he's more skilled than me time to copy, ohhh he drawings are plain why does he gain more likes than me. This video actually help me not to pressure myself and just chill, someday, someday.
@schindy63856 ай бұрын
10:00 that mindset is a speed run to anxiety. Of course, he is right with what he says, but on the other hand, no beginner will know what the right thing for you is. A professional teacher might get closer, but they can't just give you a clear "perfect" path either. I feel like this is something you should ignore as a taught artist for the most part. Reflect sometimes whether you have crutches and bad habits and go and fix them, no need to sweat it.

One thing I like to mention, that I learned myself too, that is really important too TAKE. FUCKING. BREAKS. and take it slow instead of doing a sprint Not just taking a break for 5 mins. I mean like, take the weekend off. Do something else and get a fresh mind and focus to go back. if you keep just painting/drawing all the time, the unholy >Art block< is creeping onto you faster than you think. Art, like usually every skill, takes time. You try to rush it, you fail. You may be faster, but are you really better than someone who takes their time?
@RossDraws2 жыл бұрын
SERIOUSLY!!! I feel like im a hamster on a wheel and always forget to take breaks. Treat your body and brain well!!
@CreativeSteve692 жыл бұрын
This is xactly probably one of the best art advice I've seen in the comments so far among others. I used to not take much breaks when I used to draw in my youth. lolz. But then when I started to take art again seriously during college 2018-19. I have been since taking breaks and not take myself seriously as of yet. Especially with my painting's I have been aiming to do at least two to three a month now instead of going for every other day now. Which has been a great help on focusing on other hobbies I enjoy doing. :)

The most under appreciated people in the world. Imagine how much the world would suffer without these artist. The problem is that their talent works against them. The reason the industry takes advantage of them and under pays them is because there is a army of labor reserve. There are tons of talented artist and they are so hungry for work, that very few have any real leverage...because someone else will always do it for less. @6:33 was the best advice

I find it so sweet that most of these artists replys are focusing on the passion and love for it more than the skill/career tips. It tells me that artists love what they do and are on a more emotional level with the work and the community. Lets be honest though this should be applied to anything.

One Best Advice I can give that I have learned doing the hard way. Is to learn to take breaks when necessary if your into painting, drawing etc and do it religiously you will get burnt out quick like I did. But than after re-learning art again through college recently, I have learned to take it nice n slow when doing drawing or painting where instead of trying to do one piece every other day, I try and focus on if I achieve at least one or two pieces a month. It gives me great opatunity to allow me to focus on other hobbies I enjoy more.

Great to see you doing these kinds of videos. We all want to be successful as artists and learning from the masters is so important. I learned a lot from Dr. Myles Munroe about purpose and living your life by doing your purpose that's inside of you. He isn't an artist but really a powerful preacher who taught valuable lessons that were centered around the truth and just being a human being. It was phenomenal learning from you so far and I'm happy to get more tidbits of info from you in the future!

Which is awesome :) also I dont know why I used the word 'safe' haha I got lost in what I was saying out of the excitement of getting to contribute :D
