And supposedly he had something to do with the design of wawa petals and stuff first tones and everything else back in the day i don't know that's true or not but i'm a guitarist myself 70 years old and he definitely did stuff no one else could do it the time

If you understand his sounds by feeling what he wanted to tell us you will find out he's the greatest...still is. Im not talking about technical skills, there are better. Its the whole package. Huge fan since 1979 when I 'discovered' his music. There are some sublime live recordings out of this world.

One of my best friends moms managed to catch the Hendrix/Monkees train wreck of a tour, it was in Charlotte and I think it was the... 2nd? of the six shows. She was there to see the Monkees, and said that everything changed that day. "so much for the f****n' MONKEES, I was a crazy ass hippie from then on OUT!! HA!!" I'm dead ass certain that show traumatized that woman.

@@crimsonbuildersllcronsnyde2598 I was in the 8 th. Grade and Hendrix was the first concert in my life. It was such a shock that I had a hard time enjoying other bands. Hendrix changed the way I looked at life at my age. I am still amazed. When I went back to school, I could not explain what I saw to anyone. I've seen bands from Jethro Tull to Blackmore's Rainbow. At least 70 big bands. But still could not get the same feeling.

Jimi was great. he had influences like buddy guy. I was a young kid when I heard he died. I cried. I hadn't touched a guitar at that age. In all along the watchtower... he used some wes Montgomery licks. At the time of his death I feel he was bigger than the Beatles. People would buy and bit of his playing on a record..like 5 seconds of crap was grabbed. Loved his voice. Some said weak. BS I thought a great singer.

JH only played with a 3 piece band and no sound crew. SRV had a piano player and a whole production team and travelled with more than 20 people. JH never looked at the fretboard. SRV never took his eyes off of it. JH learned guitar at the age of 15. SRV learned at the age of 3 JH was original and none of his music sounded the same, SRV only played Rock-a-billy and all his music sounded the same. JH needed nobody to become who he was, SRV could not have been himself without JH influence. JH played rythmn and lead silmutaneously, SRV only played lead. JH died at 27 and was only famous for 3 years with over 50 Albums, SRV died at 35 and was famous for 7 years and only had 4 albums. JH had no peers he was the Professor. SRV would have to compete with players of today and yester year. JH took on the whold Hells Angels motorcycle gang and single handedly and won. JH the hippy movement would have never been as big as it was and died when he died. Janice Joplin aledgedly was pregnant for him and offed herself shortly after he was offed by the alpha bet boys. He was super and a underground GOD, his music will take atleast a hundred years to be understood.

Well, for all you Hendrix lovers, including the author of this article, I don't see it!!!!! This author went on and on, like a high school student, trying to find every descriptive word in the dictionary to define the work of Jimi Hendrix. Granted, I'm a keyboard player, hence I may have missed the point, yet I grew up listening to Hendrix during the 1960's and he never bowled me over. Ted Nugent and The Amboy Dukes influenced me more than Hendrix ever did, and all Jimi's studio albums were nice, but not so iconic as this author is trying to make me believe. And burning his guitar on stage is more an act of lunacy than a genius. I like Hendrix but totally knocked out by Eddie Van Halen and Steve Vai and what they could do in guitar.

He's not Stevie Ray vaughan was. Jimi Hendrix said so. What he did was not the the Blues. It was Electric Rock. Hendrix couldn't play the Blues. Albert King said that. Albert King said he could play his stuff but Jimi could play Albert's music.
@Mike-kv5pl
@Mike-kv5pl 18 күн бұрын
Take a deep dive into his catalog. He recorded numerous blues songs. He was clearly inspired by blues artists. To say he could not play the blues is ridiculous. I like Albert King, but he was jealous of the attention and success that Hendrix was getting.

It hurts being right lol 😂…. Yet I still feel vindicated… This video and it’s opinions gave us a lot of technical goobley garp on why Hendrix is the greatest ever however there isn’t one reason on here that explains why he was truly the greatest… They almost came close with number 6 but then it tailed off to blah,blah,blah… And if you wanna mention things like guitar effects and so forth. Well now there’s a ton of new guitarists that would obliterate Hendrix point blank these days because of technology or whatever….. My first experience r.u.? hearing Hendrix was Purple Haze. Keep in mind I was not yet a musician myself however I thought his playing was some of the saddest stuff I’ve ever heard. His note placement or choice of notes 🎶 Like his song “Hear my train comin’” for example… He could play a guitar solo trill much the same as myself or any guitarist could but it would be like a baseball ⚾️ pitcher that can change things by having a great curveball or change up?…. But all of a sudden after freaking you out with those things he throws a fastball that you’ve seen a million times before. Yet because of the crazy stuff he showed you already 98 mph now looks like 200 mph …😂… The deep sadness that other guitarist could never approach.. Songs like “Hey Babe” “Train” “Machine Gun” and so on? Too much to try and explain here…. Man no way the others E.V.H.,Vai,Rhoads, etc… Not even S.R.V. could ever come close to anything like that 😮…..

I think he's ONE of the greatest guitarists of all time. I wouldn't go as far as to say that he's THE GREATEST guitarist of all time... There are just too many guitarists, both past and present, to even come close to that determination. Jimi Hendrix is, in fact, one of the best. god himself is the only one who can point a finger and say that he or she is the undisputed best. Everything else is based on opinion. And everyone's opinion is different. That's why no one person can be considered the BEST, only ONE OF THE BEST.

You would have to have seen Hendrix, and live in that era to get it. It was not just the feed back or whatever, it was the expression, the way that he was. Not to compare with other guitar players. Just the way he looked and spoke was amazing. Like Elvis. A lot of people did what he did. But Elvis is Elvis. Hendrix is different from all the others. I have seen Hendrix 2 times , front row......So I do know.
