By the time my husband (33 years) was almost done, I was his personal assistant, cruise director, president of his fan club, governess, and most importantly, his medical expert(taxed with the pleasure of dosing out his final medications). He died a little over a year ago and I’m finally feeling better, everyday grateful that I’m not enslaved anymore or having to suffer humiliation, lies, chaos…it’s so sad when someone dies young, but not this time

Dear Sam, I came across your videos in my darkest hours few years ago. At that time, I was recovering from abuse,I still do but with much more awareness and much more supple vocabulary to name what I went through. Everything you say in this video resonates with me and I have been meaning to write a comment under your videos for a while but, I felt very split even about writing a short message. I have and I stil am afraid to he rediculeted for the things that I have allowed to happen in my last relationship. Hence why, the nothingness attitude appeals to me very much, though, it is a very difficult task to rebuild your life and make living if you renaming to be unseen. Though, I made it work in the last few years but at times I feel myself to be a victim of the past, though I dispise that term . I prefer to call myself an survivor but it has been one hell of a price to survive through madness. Everything of what I knew was shuttered, only the essense remained and even that I questioned through my recovery. I had to filter my voice and his voice, I still do so even after 3 years of it all ending. Infection it is , I felt it after our immediate separation that I use to say or think in the way that he did. Though, I was most at the time aware of it and I am still sifting through it.. I wish it was all different. So, my biggest thank to you is for helping us to understand the not so understandable mind of an injured and traumatised person, myself and my abuser included Also, I thank you for your honesty and objectivity, professionalism and your sense of humour.

Imagine how difficult is to take care of a mother with 92 yo!! She still with all her narcissistic personality. I am a Psychoanalyst and my brother has all this behavior and I am try to help him understand " how he is becoming soo infected by taking care of her for about 8 years !!! I had been married to a Narcissist for 14 years and all the signs i had except the suicidal one.I can only say that getting out of that relationship was the greatest blessing of my life . I had 3 young children at that time but the timely separation helped the children to grow up into responsible youths. I would like to add that God helped me to heal very much otherwise my family wouldn't have understood me and put me into a mental asylum. I got healed by hearing faith based programs on tv and youtube. I could become the best mother to my kids when I understood that my kids r not my own but they are God's property and its my role to just look after them by giving them good values and morals. I also stopped calling my kids names and cursing them. Instead i started to bless them always. All this helped me to find myself and be a good person. I always thank God for being so kind to me and protect me and kids from all harm.

Coercive snaphotting is real. When it was finally over with my narc, there was a point where I reflected and thought, "Who am I? Who have I become? I'm not me." I had become someone so different from who I really am to please my ex-narc. I stopped listening to the music I loved, she convinced me to get rid of my body piercings and go get tattoo removal done. It was crazy. One of the best days of my life was when I walked into a piercing studio and got all my piercings redone as sort of a way to reclaim who I was.

Been listening to Prof. Vaknin for a while and in this video, like all of his videos, I'm wondering how he is getting all of this information so accurately. It's such a deep knowledge and for us who have lived through it, every thing is completely accurate. He gives words to the feelings that we just can't explain. I believe at one point he said he was diagnosed with NPD, but it's really hard to see that, because I would have never thought someone with NPD could have this deep of an understanding of any topic.
