inspire734 in reference to your idea that women have curves all over... many women have small chests, no hips, and if they work out enough, their backs will be flatter than the typical curved back of a woman. Personally, when I’m a standard weight for my size, I do not have curves all over. So please don’t take your weird conspiracy theory as fact, because you’re most likely not thinking this up yourself, you’re just following along with something that for some reason made sense in your mind at the time. I love a good conspiracy theory, but you have to be able to discern what could potentially be true and what is complete BS.

Me too. I took amateur dancing and we did the odd lineup, but always had our arms touching the others' backs, even when we high kicked. And we were not out of sync because of it.
@anniecarbonneau16345 жыл бұрын
We were taught that we were responsible for holding our own body up straight, which these girls, I've noticed, don't always do. I've seen a few bend their torsos just a tad during high kicks.
@Talierau35 жыл бұрын
The video gets it slightly wrong... the reason for the policy is center of mass. It's a liability to touch because shifting your weight onto another person is dangerous. It can mess with the synchronicity but that is only a side effect of the added effort it takes to support your weight and another dancer (or 2). When everyone is responsible for their own weight, it makes things safer and more efficient.

One of our dancers from our studio attended the Summer intensive and she tried out and made the team and has been a RCR for the last three years. Her name is Nadia and it’s easy to pick her out because she has beautiful red hair. With all that she does, she comes home to Ohio and gives her to the studio with the little ones and helps the older girls with their solos. She is truly amazing! I'm not so sure that I would want to be trained by a former Rockette, and I'm fairly certain I wouldn't want really young children trained by them. When that level of super-perfection is your norm, slowing down to normal human levels is difficult. And with children that young, I think the main thing should be that they're having fun, gain confidence and maybe discover what you're good at. Not to mention that five year olds have totally different proportions and level of fine motorics from adults, so surely it's obvious you can't take part of a grown ups dance routine for them?

If in NYC and the Rockettes are in the house cancel something and go see them. It is an amazing show. I never knew they never locked arms when they do the line dance. You can't tell in person.

I was (once) a dancer and also on dance team all through high school, and actually had several instructors/choreographers etc. ask me if I had ever considered trying out for the Rockettes. I admit, I had great high kicks! (And I’m 5’ 8” lol.)

I know a retired Rockette who threw away the scale the day she left. She is in her 70s now and can still strike a pose and kick amazingly well. But she told me it was constrant and grueling work but she loved her 25 years of performing.

I love to dance either to workout or to have fun. So I'm definitely not a future Rockette, but I do love watching them on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, they rock!

Woooow When they do the eye high kicks they're not holding eachother. Their hands are hovering just over their costumes. That's unreal right there 👀 I would love to see them live!

When I was still a teenager Radio City was open every day complete with a movie, The Rockettes performed 7 days a week as did the orchestra and the ballet. Radio City decided to cut back the schedule for financial reasons. When I heard this I unthinkingly remarked "Glad I didn't decide to be a Rockette because I'd be unemployed." A coworker overheard the remark and remarked "I didn't know you were going to be a Rockette." Once again I had put my foot in my mouth and had to explain that I was trying (unsuccessfully) to be sarcastic.

Age was not mentioned. What is the starting age of a Rockette and the cut-off age.
@reaganmc005 жыл бұрын
Paula Tristan 18+, there’s no maximum age
@kacee65235 жыл бұрын
Paula Tristan My cousin became a rockette her senior year of high school, she was 17. If I remember correctly, you had to turn 18 by a certain date of the year you auditioned so as long as you would be turning 18 before that cut off date, you can actually become a rockette at 17.
@paulatristan81895 жыл бұрын
@@kacee6523 + that's great but your cousin was very young. I'm sure for the Rockettes they don't want a 50 year old woman in their group. I mean you have to worry about the arthritis and kicking high. The exercise is grulling for older women that's why I asked about cut - off ages. What I should have asked is what is the oldest age accepted into the Rockettes if you make it that far.
@kacee65235 жыл бұрын
Paula Tristan i don’t know if there is an absolute maximum but I do know there are at least a few in this years group who are in their 40’s.. so they’re not all young.
@paulatristan81895 жыл бұрын
@@kacee6523 + in their 40's wow especially with the grueling exercise the girls go through.. the women in their 40's must be in top shape👍🏼😊🎉 in any case I think it's great. Merry Christmas to you and your family🎄🎀

Why though? I used to get up early for school but that was because I spent 3 hours on a bus, not because of the courseload.
@animehuntress90185 жыл бұрын
@@melodramatic7904 They're in New York... on the salary they make I doubt they live anywhere near the studio and company, so it might be a 3 hour commute for them as well. I feel you on the bus, mine wasn't as long an hour and a half, but Highschool was brutal because the bus didn't come to my area. I had to make sure I had enough time to get to the bus 1.5 hours to the trolly, 30-45 min to my trolly stop, and then a 20 min walk to the school. I made sure I left earlier then I had to just incase I ran into any issues along the way. I'd leave at 6 and be home at somewhere between 4 and 5.

Well you’re going to school. You aren’t going to practice dancing and other physical stuff for the next 6 hours (correct me if I’m wrong). You’re going to go sit down and listen to your teacher.
