Thank you Gary for this very useful video !! A lot of shortcuts I didn't know ! One more tips : you can add the type of result at the end of your request. For instance : "dog kind:images", "more files kind:folder" or "Alice kind:document"...

Quite a bit of that I did not know. I can see how much of that is quicker. Parentheses have always been a problem for me in the calculator. Cool.

I've been binge watching your videos for several weeks now and I go into every one thinking I'll already know all this, but I come out learning a tonne of new stuff every single video! Thank you! Also, are you able to share the 'uptime' shortcut that you have? (I'm assuming it's what tells you the time since you last restarted the Mac)
@macmost11 ай бұрын
It is just Run Shell Script with the shell script "uptime." Super simple.

Another nice speech I don’t think you mentioned is when you do bring up a list of files and they’re very similar. If you tap the spacebar you get effect simile of what that file is so you can tell if it’s the one you want or not I use this all the time.

Yes, that's called Quick Look. Works in Spotlight, Finder, Open/Save dialogs, etc.

A very useful and informative video tutorial today! Thank you, Gary! 👏🏻❤️ Ps I’m sure you’ve done a video on mail folders in saved on the iPad could you point me in the right direction thank you in advance
@macmost11 ай бұрын
The thing about email folders is they are usually a part of the email system you are using. So iPad/Mac/Windows doesn’t matter. Using folders has more to do with the service: iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.

Is there a way to use the “not” specifier in Spotlight? For example: all my professional photographs are stored in a folder called “Photographs”. But some of them have been mistakenly placed outside of that folder. I want to be able to search my entire computer for files with the suffix “.jpg” that are not contained in the “Photographs” folder.
@macmost10 ай бұрын
Yes, but specifying a folder is tough. You may need to select all in that folder, add a tag to those files, and then use NOT for the tag. See m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5m8lH6uqb52bpo
