Watched this and thought I'd give it a go to find a file I had been looking for, for ages. Finder didn't/couldn't find it, but spotlight did. It was in folder library/containers/mail/data and had a nonsensical filename but spotlight found it. Thank you so much. Worth a coffee (or two)

Great video. I have learned a lot from this video about Spotlight Search I never knew. It is a very useful tool on the Mac. I am a PC person, but have a Macbook Pro that I don't use very much, but want to use more. I could use some lessons on how to get around on the Mac especially moving from one App that is opened to another. I feel like a fish out of water. Any suggestions? I appreciate any you may have. Thanks for sharing, I love your videos because they are very detailed and you explain it so well! ☺

Do you know if spotlight can search for running applications or its window title ? For example if I have a Chrome instance with Gmail opened, could I search for 'Gmail' to get the focus on that Chrome instance ? I can do that with Rofi on Linux, and it's so useful

Comprehensive…however, I’m running Sonoma 14.5 in conjunction with Davinci Resolve 18.6.6 and a Logi MX Master 3S. Davinci has a function that uses “Middle-Click” to copy a color grade. I’ve configure the Master 3S to define the wheel button to ‘Middle-Click’ but when I 'middle-click’, the Spotlight Search pops up. Disabling the keyboard function works as designed, however I have yet to find a way to disable Spotlight initiated from the mouse…. any thoughts would be appreciated (other than migrating over to Windoze).

sadly "Alfred" is still 10 times more useful..I would really miss easy commands like "quit all apps" or "shut down" if I'd be using only spotlight
