Fantastic video❤ Thank you❣️❣️❣️ I would love to see more videos on the Vision Pro. I am trying to decide if it is worth the splurge now or wait until the next iteration. Also, trying to figure out if it would truly take the place of my MacBook Pro. BTW - just thank you for all of your content! Wow! You were gliding through this tutorial as if you were born with the AVP. This is such an in-depth and entertaining video for a new product you've only had for a few days. My question is: Can you walk up to a virtual window, such as Safari or a movie you're watching, with a physical tape measure and measure the window's width and height? I know you can resize the windows, but I'd like an idea of how big the widows can get - real-world scale. Are they 8ft x 6ft? Are they 15ft x 9ft? Or are they poster size such as 24x18 inches or 36x24 inches?
@macmost

Can the panoramas be used as an environment/background for apps or just for viewing? Also, is there any reason your really need to shut it down? I know it stays in standby mode when you take it off and the app screens you set up will stay where you put them when you put it back on

Hey Gary! As a tech and productivity enthusiast, I'm very curious to know your thoughts on the Vision Pro so far. It seems to offer some really interesting features that can streamline workflows. Do you think the Vision Pro warrants the high price tag for what it delivers in terms of convenience and productivity? Or are some of the features more superfluous? What have been your main use cases so far? I'm eager to hear about your experience with this new gadget! Thanks!

I've been using it for normal work for 3 days now. Whether it is worth the price depends on a lot of subjective factors, including budget. But there are all sorts of other uses. I just watched a movie and it really is like having a 100-inch TV, without needing to remodel or rearrange your space to accommodate it.

Great video. Best one so far on VP features. Please explain why so many creators are complaining about only having support for one monitor. They never show the Mac screen in the Vision Pro with multiple apps open. The Vision Pro itself can open multiple apps but the Mac screen always only shows one app. Is that the correct way to use the Mac in the Vision Pro?
@macmost
@macmost 3 ай бұрын
So you can only have one display that shows your Mac. But you can definitely have more AVP windows around it. So you can use the Mac display window for your Mac app (like Final Cut Pro or Xcode for instance) and then put Mail, Messages, Notes, Calendar, Safari, Etc as other AVP windows around it.

@@macmost thank you. I have only ever used one monitor, so just to be clear, when I connect to the MacBook in VP, I can pull up only one app for that window, like FCP? If I hit anything else in the Mac dock like mail to open in the Mac window it will not open? I must open mail in a new window, using the Vision Pro mail app?
@macmost
@macmost 3 ай бұрын
@@sharonb.9128 no. It works just like a regular screen for your Mac. You can use it with desktop apps, multiple windows and such. you can use it just like you do with your screen now. I was just suggesting that you don’t need to use Mail on your Mac while in AVP, since you can use the Mail app in AVP.

Even that the Apple Vision is not available in Germany up to now, for me personally I don't see any advantage to buy and use the Apple vision. If you wear it, you look ugly like a mole on drugs. It makes sense in case if you are working in something like CAD, maybe games too, but as a normal user? I would buy a new Macbook and a iPad too instead of buy this thing for 3000 € or more.
@macmost
@macmost 3 ай бұрын
I don't think many people will use this in public. You'd mainly use it in your home or office. As for not being for a "normal user" the same can be said of a Mac Studio or Mac Pro. This is definitely for high-end right now.
@hermanngruing7711
@hermanngruing7711 3 ай бұрын
@@macmost I hope that device will not be shown in public 😉 Of course home or office is the main use. But as i mentioned, a mac or macbook pro combined with an ipad will do a better job in these cases as Apple showed in their introduction. Sitting in the living room, wearing the goggles and typing on a virtual keyboard? No, thanks. The price is not the problem I guess. For a Macbook Pro with some more ram and a 1 or 2 TB SSD you will hit the price of the vision. I am missing the feeling of „must have“ as I have had when the iPad was introduced. At this time I didn‘t know what to do with this thing, but I knew that I want to have it. It is similar when I see (here in germany) how many cars with all-wheel drive are driving in the streets. Most of the people don‘t need it, they want to have it. The Vision is high-end off course, I like to have high end computing devices, but I don’t want to have the Vision. Therefore I am definitely not the target group for this device.

@@macmost VR games is the only reasonable use-case for a VR headset. And this headset have 2 major flaws - it doesn't have controllers for gaming and you can't connect it to a powerful computer to run a descent AAA game on it. Tim Cook screwed up a lot developing this device, resulting in it being the most useless VR headset in the world.
@macmost
@macmost 3 ай бұрын
@@eugenn2848 Maybe it is the only reasonable use-case for you, but that is not true for everyone. I think others will be using it for work and for media (I know I am). You can certainly hook up controllers to it, it supports that. Plus the hand gestures are very accurate (have you tried it?) And unlike other headsets it IS a powerful computer. Basically an M2 Mac with even more graphics power.
@eugenn2848
@eugenn2848 3 ай бұрын
@@macmost Work? There is only 1 virtual monitor available for use. That's not enough. Additionally, it's uncomfortable to use it for long periods of time (8 hours or more) unlike regular monitors. Many reviewers complain about fatigue when using it for more than a couple of hours. Media? Unless you're a solitary individual with no personal life. Watching a movie with friends and/or family members on a regular TV or in a cinema will always be more preferable. Controllers. There are no proper controllers available for this kind of device. How will you play games like Half-Life Alyx or Horizon Call of the Mountain? With a PS5 controller? That's a joke!🤣 Although it has an M2 processor on board, it is much less powerful than the PS5 or RTX 4080/4090. Apple made a mistake by not enabling the ability to connect it to a Mac (such as Mac Studio) via a Thunderbolt cable to use it as an external video card for rendering high-intensity graphic games.
@macmost
@macmost 3 ай бұрын
@@eugenn2848 Have you even tried it? I've been getting work done for the past 4 days with it. I thought one Mac window wouldn't be enough, but first it is a big window. Second, I don't need to use apps like Mail, Safari, Messages, Reminders, Notes and Calendar in the Mac window. I have those in other native AVP windows. So it feels like I have many screens, not one. I haven't experienced fatigue, but you don't need to use something for 8+ hours for it to be useful. Lots of people split their time between a Mac and iPad for instance, but just because each is used less than 8 hours doesn't make them both useless. Same with watching media. It isn't all-or-none. You can watch something on your own with it and still watch other things on a TV with other people. Why would you imagine that if a company produced a game like Half-Life Alyx for the AVP that they wouldn't figure out the controllers? The AVP is certainly capable of it. Why jump to that conclusion? As for power, I think you are greatly underestimating the power of the M2 in the AVP.
