We had a play when I was in jr high. Our ball out of bounds under our basket, line up in a picket line along side the key. Man taking ball out would hold up 3 fingers, front of picket line would act exasperated and say “wait a minute I’m supposed to take the ball out”. The defense would relax and we’d pass ball in and score. Worked numerous times even in championship game of tournament.

We had a play called "Box" but if the coach called "Box" and said someone's name after it..this was the play we ran. Whoever name was called did the routine of saying "hold on, I'm supposed to throw the ball in" D would relax...easy layup. Worked about 75% of the time. Sometimes the other team would just still D us up

The HS play at 2 minutes or so is illegal. A player may not leave the court voluntarily. This should have been a technical foul for leaving the court. 30 year official here.

Absolutely. You can let a couple feet leave the court while running/fighting through a screen/etc, I won't bat an eye for that . But you definitely can't leave the arena/court area then step in and make a play. The Lakers guy hiding behind Spolstra was also illegal.

What are talking about? First of all, it’s not the NBA, they have 10 seconds to get it into the front court. Secondly, there’s 11.8 on the clock and the ball has front court status at about 5.9, so they took about 6 seconds of the 10 count.

I remember when Tyler Herro at UK ran out of bound and came back in and caught a pass and the refs called a turn over and they said he could not be the first to touch the ball after being out of bounds so all those football plays are illegal if the refs are consistent but we know they aren't.

The run out the door and come back in is illegal. A player can not even deliberately run out of bounds for more than a couple of steps. For instance, they can't run baseline out of bounds and come back in and catch a pass. I have seen it called twice in the last few years.
