Great selection of stories! There have been a lot that sounded like tween-written, r/thahappened in the past couple of months... stoked to hear you narrate some decent choices. P.S. Dumfries and Galloway is a cool weekend visit if you're ever in Scotland. A hop, skip and a jump from Ayreshore. P.P.S. Tex-ar-can-uh,.like Arkansaz and Kansas (hence the name), not Tex-ar--kon-uh.

Yeah, these stories are so incredibly fake... It's a bunch of wannabe writers.. Sure, creative writing is awesome and interesting--If done right. These are not. It's embarrassing, especially since they present them as "real accounts" and are so over the top. The stories with direct quotes and ridiculous descriptions are the worst. "I gulped as my mouth struggled to find the words and body ceased to function"... " I said.. "The only thing big here, is your imagination, buddy".... ha! so stupid.

@@jaredschiff5003 I've had to come pretty far to find people with sense but I finally found some people who actually understand how marksmen actually work. No sniper in their right mind would willingly give their position away by laughing, shouting and sending a consistent stream of bullets into one target. Snipers since WW1 have pretty much been trained the same way, one of these teachings is to minimise your shots as it will minimise your exposure.

True, but it's possible that the amount of methamphetamine he was on had him purposely torturing those men. But, as a veteran myself, it seemed very foolhardy to waste rounds pumping them into a dead man. The paramedic in me though found what he said about not being able to recognize the man after the shot to the head affecting the integral structure of the skull making the man's facial features change. I suspect that there is truth to the story.

Watch the old movie - “The Town That Dreaded Sundown” This movie was based off of the murders in Texarkana. I saw it when I was about 10 and it was frightening. Right? Shows why suspense/horror movies are so much scarier and more unnerving when we DON'T KNOW what is stalking the protagonist, what is behind that door, or down in the basement... That's when our panicked mind supplies the worst images and thoughts, and true terror sets in. Not some cheapo demon nun or possesed doll😅

She is 1 of 9 children and lived 1/4 of a mile from the Appalachian trail! We used to play in the woods across the st and have hiked a long ways on the trail! I do remember having a spooky feeling and experience either across the st in the woods(which aRE ALL APARTMENTS and housing etc now) but i remember my uncle telling me some strange stories about hiking. But she says it happened in North Carolina but asks the hunters if it is possible for a Grizzly to come that far down from the ROCKIES; However, the Rocky mountain range is in Colorado. The APPALACHIANS are in the area of North Carolina. So I worry that one of my favorite stories isn't true. Some people will ask, "does it matter?" Yes, yes it does since it is presented as such. 😢

Self-immolation (setting one's self on fire) an act.of protest. That man in 2014 survived. It didn't happen on the train, but atop a bridge at Shinjoku Station in Tokyo. Apparently, he was protesting attempts to weaken Japan's anti-war constitution. He also had firefighters standing nearby. Not quite the tragic, impassioned, desperate and selfless act of Buddhist monk Quang Duc who, "In June of 1963, set himself ablaze in a busy intersection of Saigon in protest of the treatment of Buddhists by President Diem of South Vietnam."

The military story reminded me of something that happened to my dad. My dad is a reserve sergeant in the Finnish army. During his compulsory military service in the 80s or 90s (I believe), he and a few comrades were in their quarters cleaning their rifles. One of his pals had obviously not noticed that there was a bullet in the chamber of his weapon and the rifle discharged by complete accident. It hit the guy sitting opposite him and it went through his skull, killing him instantly. The guy who died was sitting next to my dad when it happened, and it all happened in an enclosed space too. I can't begin to imagine how horrifying it was. It was a freak accident and it's not as thrilling as stories about being out on the battlefield necessarily, but it's one of the scariest things that he's gone through just because of how sudden and brutal it was. The guy who was in charge of checking the weapons was discharged for being incompetant and not checking the rifles properly before cleaning, and the guy whose weapon discharged never forgave himself. I don't know if he took his own life because of it, I'm a bit hazy about the details because I'm not in contact with my dad as we don't have the best relationship (he's manipulative and emotionally abusive to me and my mother) and I heard this story from my mother. Even if we were still in contact I probably wouldn't ask him about it out of respect for him and because of how awful the event must have been. I don't get on with him but I feel so bad for him for having to witness so scary and violent. I don't think he ever got the psychological help he needed for it and is struggling with the trauma of watching one of his friends die next to him to this day.

6th grade's coming up soon for me (3 months goes by too dang fast), and I plan on listening to scary stories like this every night over the summer so I can actually sleep. I have melatonin chewable so I could just take some of those for my ☁️✨insomniac mind✨☁️ but I'm trying to get into a natural sleep schedule and idk how, but _this_ helps. Edit: Keep it up, man! You're doing great!
