Layer the sheets in the crib, for example waterproof pad, sheet, then another waterproof pad and then another. This helps when the baby soaks the sheet in the middle of the night, you only have to pull off the top layer off instead of changing an entire bed in the middle of the night.

This is no longer recommended. It keeps the mattress from being breathable if the baby rolls over. The best mattress recommendation is a Newton mattress. Splurge on the items that will keep baby safe. Owlet monitor and Newton mattress.

We have 4 kids and never had a changing table. We put a waterproof pad on the floor - that way the baby can't accidentally roll off. Also, we had a Moses basket that was portable instead of a basinet. The Moses basket worked really well for us, and it takes up less space when you are storing it between kids.

We had multiple ultrasounds with our youngest son. They said he was a girl the entire time. We had girls names picked out, all the girls clothes out of storage from our daughter. When he was born they said it’s a boy!! We had to come up with a boys name, go get all the boys clothes out of storage from our boy. His name is Benjamin Wade and he is now 28 and we couldn’t be more proud of the man he is today.

I was told before ultrasounds were the thing, that the heart rate was a girl, and after having three boys and a daughter that kept me on my toes, I was looking forward to another girl, sooo I got things ready for a girl. The day of delivery I looked over at my then husband and laughing said to him, it’s not a girl! Nope it was our fourth son, he was our rainbow 🌈 baby, we had just lost our second born son to a pediatric brain tumor, he was 5 years old when he died a year prior. My rainbow son turned 30 years old in 2022. God told me in a dream He was going to give me a baby to fill the void of my little boy and He did.

For the diaper changing pad, I have one that I have different cloth covers for, just elastic on the edges and slips over like a fitted sheet. But also, I have a waterproof/resistant cloth pad (kinda like what you will have in your hospital bed) that I kept in top so it would catch any messes and throw it in the wash instead of changing the cover every time. Just another option😊

For a diaper changing pad that you can wipe down, I found that you can wrap a standard pad in a clear shower curtain. If you put it in the dryer for 20-30 seconds it will take out the creases and it will be easier to wrap around. I just stapled it and taped it securely. This gives you a wipe-able surface.

My 2 fav things that were life saving were: the wedge that kept my babies on their side while sleeping in the bassinet & the boppy pillow that keeps him propped up, tummy time & feeding support.

The Academy of Pediatrics doesn’t recommend side lying for infants while sleeping. It’s back to sleep and front to play. There were some infants that actually began choking while side lying and weren’t able to move their faces away from vomit effectively and that’s why those series of recommendations came about. I love the “boppy” pillow for a variety of uses when the infant is awake. God bless and always remember to get the latest/up-to-date information for you and baby. I absolutely adored the sweet kitten entrée doorway! I was wondering if you thought about placing under the shelf lights; so your precious kitten could walk into his toilet area easier😉

I had a bassinet for both kids, first one wouldn’t sleep in it. She slept in the bassinet type stroller, second one loved it. Slept in our room for the first month and then they both slept through the night. No car seats 40 years ago.. sounds terrible but rarely did people use them. They were 15 months apart and I didn’t have a car so I wasn’t driving anywhere anyway. Had a stroller big enough for both and that was a huge blessing.

I had foster babies and found the simpler the better. The most important baby items is a bed, high chair, stroller, car seat, clothes from garage sales or good will as they grow out of the clothes fast, toys they can play on the floor, diapers, and wipes. Swings and other little baby things that holds the baby is a waste of space. Tummy time on the floor allows the baby to develop the muscles needed for life.

Our son and daughter in love use the CuboAi baby monitor, it is amazing. It is a cute little bird that goes above crib and can be moved anywhere, the video is so clear, let's us know through their phones when he is put in crib, rolls, over, cries, room temp, room humidity, there is a mat that goes under mattress that keeps track of bsby, heart rate, temperature, growth, sleep pattern. Also we grandparents have on our phones so when we babysit we have access. We love it and recommend, a little pricey but worth it.

My mom used a wicker laundry basket for my bassinet. Since it had a more of an oval shape, a feather pillow made a perfect little mattress. It worked out great in a small space. A baby is only little enough for a bassinet for just a few months, so it was a good temporary option until I was big enough to transfer to my crib in the nursery.

Where the stroller comes, get a small umbrella stroller to just pop into the car for short shopping trips or if you decide to just walk around a little if you are some where. Get a the biggest stroller you can and then it will still be usable for you for some years to come. That is what we did and I was still able to push all my kids till they were four years old like if we went to the zoo or something like that. Toddlers love to walk and explore, then all of a sudden they want to crash and that way they can sleep. Get a big changing table. I used a Port-A-Crib and I was able to change babies/toddlers very easily. Then I just kept using it until they were almost 5 and they started dressing themselves. Makes it so much easier to just plop them up there and toss their clothes on. No bedding over a bed or trying to do it on the floor.

I used them to lay over my shoulder when holding baby to protect their delicate skin, for burp cloths, as a lightweight cover for warm days, as changing pads, even as a nursing cover. You may want to think about putting two narrow strips of wood on each side of the door frame or wall to make a track to slide a board in and then it can be removed so nobody will trip over the board . We did this for our puppy. We had it as the only divider … it was about 3 feet high but this would not work with a kitty, but it should work with the board you have. It would just be easy to remove if you needed to go through without stepping over this board. Your home looks so good.

We used a Pack N Play that had a changing table and bassinet attached to it. Yes, its a little big but like others have said they outgrow a smaller bassinet too quickly to justify spending that amount of money. Our little girl didn’t sleep through the night until she was around 7 months old, so she slept in the same room as us until she was almost one year old. So the Pack N Play was very helpful for us, as you could change it as the baby grows. Then we bought a crib and used it for her naps so she could get used to it before we transferred her to her room

A great tip that I have used is size up on diapers during the night so that you won't disturb your babies sleep ( if he's a good sleeper) changing his diaper. I even size up two sizes. This will probably be more helpful when your baby is a little older since babies usually do more that urinate each feeding when they are younger so you have to change them anyway.

Wow, baby products have really come a long way. You two are so cute and watching you brings back memories of when I had my two sons. I'm an old mom now and my son's are grown but one thing that I had to have was a Boppy Pillow. It is perfect for nursing and even bottle feeding. Positions your baby at just the right level and is comfortable. Even dads can use it to feed their babies. When grandparents come over, they would put on the boppy and hold their grandbabies. I wore my first one out and had to get a new one for my second son. You can even use it to prop the baby on when on the floor or couch. Do people still use them? Not sure, maybe they have come up with something new. Enjoy these precious moments because before you know it, they are grown.

Truthfully, in a small house, monitors are so unimportant. I realized how in our small house, I was going to hear the baby anyways. So I wouldn't necessarily worry about it. I did borrow one when we went on a women's retreat because the facility was bigger. I personally don't like the video monitors. Just feel pointless to me. Yay for boy! My oldest was a boy as well. Meal trains and diaper showers were life changing! Also, for a small baby up your protein intake! You should be shooting for 85mg a day. I know that's a lot and the junk sounds better (I'm almost 26 weeks), but it'll help satiate that hunger took. If the nausea comes back in a few weeks up the potassium. ❤️

It is helpful to have a monitor when you are in the shower or if you go outside. Also when the baby moves to his room and you (the parents) have a sound machine, it is needed so that your sound machine won't drown out the crying.

For the stroller I suggest getting one that the car seat can click into. Monitor I suggest a video one and on that gives the ability to move the camera in the bedroom from the monitor. Then for changing just put a burp cloth under him if you have the fabric cover for the changing pad and worried about getting it dirty

When my kids were little I used to put a sheet, I can’t remember if it was a playpen sheet or crib sheet, over the changing pad. I then put a thick burn cloth where there head and bottom would go just in case of spit up or a diaper explosion. If I remember correctly I used a cloth diaper for it because it was thicker then a normal burp cloth, if that makes sense. Ultrasound appointments are so exciting and I can’t believe your 20 weeks already!!! ❤

We did a Bed Side Sleeper and it’s the best thing we ever did! Way better than a bassinet which they outgrow very fast.

This is a very exciting thing to behold . I don’t know about a small bassinet because my children are grown .

For all 4 of my kids, I didn’t even use a bassinet. I just used a bouncy chair for the first 5 months of their lives. They all slept great in it! Definitely splurge on a good baby monitor. You’ll use it every day for years! It’s nice to have a good one that you can see & hear baby clearly. You guys got this! Congrats! 🎉🎉🎉

We loved a bouncy seat as well! The bassinet was outgrown quickly but a lifesaver. Never had a baby monitor, could not understand why they were needed. I only felt peace if I physically went to check on baby. I always wondered, why a remote monitor?

Hey I have 3 kids and we just have a regular changing pad but I tell ALL my friends when they have babies to buy the Target Cloud Island wipeable changing pad covers! They're amazing because they are wipeable but you can still take them off and wash them when you need to. One of my must-have baby items when people ask! A baby bassinet is literally the hardest thing ever to figure out. We have done something different with each baby. I don't know how much space you have beside your bed, but finally for our third we bought a bassinet that I love! It is an Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper bassinet that you can use just as a bassinet or attach it to your bed and use it as a safe co-sleeper too. We bought one used, but I would have spent the money for it new. It has mesh all the way around which is a must-have for me once they start moving more in their sleep. I would say our baby did not outgrow it until she was about 7 months old. I know I said this before, but the Copper Pearl burp cloths are SO good and absorbent. You can register for them on Amazon and I can say with almost 100% certainty they will end up being your favorite ones. You guys are doing great! The first baby registry is so tough because you just don't know!

Both of my babies slept in a pack n play in our room for like 10 months. I bought a nice mini crib mattress so it way much more comfortable and they slept so good

I don't have much experience because I'm not a parent yet. But I have heard the nestig crib is a popular choice it goes from mini crib up to toddler bed all in one

so fun seeing the sweet baby! I would advice having a cosleeper beside the bed as its so easy to nurse baby at night, my husband just made one. Also if your house is small like mine was you don't even need a baby monitor. Also you can source a sheep farm and buy cheep wool and just stuff your own natural mattress. The diaper change isn't necessary I just used the bed and a plastic guard.

Love the way you fix the cat problem. Talk to Katie and Alyssa about the most new updates baby stuff. When my kids were born they didn't have all this new stuff. My kids were born in 1978 and 1981
