note Technically, the Persian word for "sitar" is "سئ‌تار" (sitaar), but the design (and name) came from an earlier instrument called a سه‌تار (seh-taar, "3 strings") which is the term I chose to use here

Hindi is spoken across northern India and is mutually intelligible with Urdu, the national language of Pakistan. Persian, also known as Farsi, is spoken in Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan. During the Mughal Empire in India (1526-1857), Persian was esteemed as the language of high culture and exerted a huge influence on Indian languages. All of the words in this video are ones that originally came from Persian and were borrowed into Hindi/Urdu under the Mughals

These 20 words are all Farsi loanwords in Hindi. There are pure Hindi equivalents for them, for example: Life is zindagi in Farsi and jiivan in Hindi; dream is xaab in Farsi and sapna in Hindi; India is Hindustan in Farsi and Bhaarat in Hindi.

The words they actually used for Hindi for example like "Khargosh" is actually Urdu which has borrowed a lot of words from Farsi and Arabic. For example in Arabic cucumber is khiyar, chair is kursiya, pen is qalam in Urdu cucumber is kheera, kursi and qalam and farsi also has the same or similar words. I would actually call this video 20 words: Urdu and Farsi because as you said Hindi has different words for dreaming, Indian,life and even week.

hijabi hijab Yes, I was going to mention this, that actually Urdu is basically just a form of Hindi but with many Farsi and Arabic loanwords. Pure Hindi has many Sanskrit words or native Hindi words in place of the Farsi and Arabic loanwords in Urdu.

hijabi hijab Urdu + Hindi = Hindustani (Khadi Boli) which was official. This kinda changed much after partition of India but most of it retained and popularized by Bollywood. Khargosh is still Khargosh , cucumber is Kheera, chair is still kursi, pen - kalam in spoken Hindi as of today and I can't think of any substitutes commonly used for these. Hindustan would mean place of Hindus and in Sanskrit it would be Hindusthan so not much difference here. Bharat is an ancient name given official status since it's not related to any religion.

The Indian girl was actually using Urdu words instead of Hindi, every single word that was used by the Indian girl has a separate Sanskrit based word that is used in Hindi. Nonetheless as Hindi and Urdu are nearly the same people don't realize they are speaking Urdu instead of Hindi. Not every word. Only the two you have mentioned here, Raṅg, Sabzī, Javān, Safēd, Hindustānī, Śaharī, Ḵẖvāb, and Zindagī are from Urdu. But what about the rest? Namak, Kam, Zyādā, Kharagōsh, Pan̄jāb, Dō bār, Mugal, Pasand, Śikast and Sitār? What will you replace them with? These are common words between Persian and Hindi traced due to the Indo-European lineage. Both Persian and Hindi are Indo-European languages, and thus, their ancestors (Vedic Sanskrit and Old Persian) weren't really far apart. Thus, one can find certain common-sounding words in Hindi and Persian which aren't from Urdu (which borrowed from Persian). Such as: Far (English) = Dūr (Hindi) = Dūr (Persian) = Dūra (Sanskrit) Name (English) = Nām (Hindi) = Nām (Persian) = Nāma (Sanskrit) Finger (English) = Aṅguṣṭh (Hindi) = Angusht (Persian) = Aṅguṣṭha (Sanskrit) Horse (English) = Aśv (Hindi) = Asb (Persian) = Aśva (Sanskrit) And these are just a few examples. There are a ton more.

Okay, most of the Hindi words here have Persian roots (except rang). Here are some interesting similarites between Sanskrit derived Hindi words and Persian words. 1. Rang(Hindi/Farsi) - Colour 2. Actually these are not similar words in Hindi and Persian. it's simply Persian words. Urdu language was created by blending Persian words with khadiboli language of India, which is the basis of both Urdu and Hindi languages. The words Hindustani, Hindi and Punjabi etc. are Urdu words from Persian. In Persian Hindustan means land of river Sindhu. Iranians called river Sindhu as Hindu. After the creation of Urdu, Hindi was created by blending Sanskrit words with Khadiboli and borrowing large number of Urdu words. The word Hindi itself is Urdu which means Indian. This is how Persian words came to Hindi.

Even knowing right clear that all of the words in that video are ones that originally came from Persian and were borrowed into Hindi/Urdu under the Mughals, it's obvious that Iranic (or Persian) languages and Indian languages have both the same millenary origin in the Indoiranian, the language spoken by the Arians, an Indoeuropean people that migrated thousands of years ago from Ural Mountains, Asia Minor and the Lands of Eastern Europe and Capadocia, towards, in one hand, to the Hindu Kush and the Iranian Plateau, and, on the other hand, to the Valley of Indus River and the Peninsula of Hindustan. We shouldn't forget too that they both mixed themselves with the peoples that lived before in, respectively, the Middle East and the Peninsula of Hindustan. So, that's why the ethnical and facial appearance between Iranians and Indians is today different.
