Hindi and Urdu are just like Purple and Violet. One has more blue, while the other has more red, but both are made up of red of blue. Red represents Persian and Arabic, while Blue represent Samskrit.

I'm from Odisha , I was forced to learn that hindi khadiboli languages in my school as 3rd language, hindi is so gender based , have femine and masculine words, hindi words end with halant ୍ (well there's no need for extra halant matra for hindi language) 😂 And I can't understand hindi without sanskrit words..,I'm telling you... Hindi isn't the only language to have gender and if you don't want to learn it then just don't learn it and stay at your place, every language has its own importance and disrespecting it doesn't help you getting into a better state. I'm an Odia as well and learnt Hindi as my third language and learning it was super helpful especially in other states, the problem is we people are ashamed to talk in our own mother tongue even when we meet an another Odia in a train or in a place outside the state, leave about outside, people are having the inferiority complex of speaking it inside their own state unlike the Bengalis. Just look at our news channels, the reporters are butchering the Odia words with the halant itself just for some style or show-off. Learning multiple languages is a boon and it should be promoted to be a polyglot (also helps in better neural connection and plasticity) but being ashamed of your mother tongue is the first thing to be removed. Prioritising one's own mother tongue is an excellent motive but that doesn't give any of us the right to insult the other one just because we don't to want associate or learn it. Try to remove the inferiority complex first, many people are trying to look like they belong to W.B. and I've witnessed it multiple times on different occasions. P.S.: I speak 6 languages out of which 3 are Indian languages.

As a Malayali, I can understand Hindi much more than Urdu as Hindi is Sanskritized and Urdu is Persianized. Malayalam being a highly Sanskritized Dravidian language has many Sanskrit words and sounds making it easy to understand Hindi.
@abhirathrs5780
@abhirathrs5780 Жыл бұрын
@@user-uq1pb1ig6g Did I say, Malayalam originated from Sanskrit? Not at all. That is why I said it is one of the most "Sanskritized Dravidian languages" in India. Malayalam isn't derived from "Pure Tamil". Malayalam originated from the Old-Tamil / Proto Tamil-Malayalam, most specifically from the "Karintamil" group. It is the name given for non-standardized Tamil dialects spoken in Tamilakam during the Sangam period. Malayalam in it's initial stage was a vernacular of Old-Tamil which later evolved to form a distinct language. This evolution was fueled by Sanskrit after the arrival of Namboodiri Brahmins. This is why Malayalam is not exactly the same as modern Tamil. Secondly, it's absolutely wrong to say Sanskrit was introduced by Tamil Brahmins. Sanskrit came to Kerala with a set of Brahmin communities who arrived from Karnataka, which in turn initially migrated from North India during the 9th century. These Brahmins firstly assimilated with the local population for a short period and later chose to remain endogamous. They formed the present day "Namboodiri Brahmins" which are the most common, indigenous and predominant Brahmin community in Kerala. Their migration root is as follows; North India - Karnataka - Tulu Nadu - Kerala. They introduced their vedic knowledge, vedic rites, followed tantric tradition, and mixed Sanskrit with the local language. This happened between 9th-12th century period. The other two major Brahmin communities in Kerala are the Iyer Brahmins and Konkani Brahmins. You are referring to Iyer Brahmins in your comment, however both Iyer Brahmins and Konkani Brahmins arrived here long after the Namboodiris. Iyer Brahmins are commonly seen in Palakkad, as they cross the border through the Palakkad gap of western ghats. Iyers are also found in Thiruvananthapuram side as they are close to Kanyakumari (border to TN). These Iyer Brahmins are proud of their Tamil heritage and even speak Tamil (and Malayalam) in their houses, they have Tamil as their liturgical language and give less importance to Sanskrit. Many of the Iyer Brahmins live together in Agraharas and wear Thilak. The women wear ornaments and Tamil style Saree. All these factors are entirely different from Namboodiris as they don't have any Tamil lineage and they gave importance to Sanskrit and Vedic rites. They also live in independent houses known as "Illam" or "Mana". Unlike Iyers, they don't wear the similar Thilak. Namboodiris also wear less ornaments and usually wear plain white or kasavu mundu (and mel mundu). Lastly, the Konkani or GSB Brahmins recently came here from Goa during the colonial period in order to escape conversion to Christianity. They speak Konkani in their home along with Malayalam. We don't disrespect Sanskrit and Tamil as both languages are equally important to us. If Old Tamil is the mother of Malayalam, then Sanskrit is the foster mother that nurtured Malayalam throughout its journey. Removal of Sanskrit will create a huge breakdown to Malayalam. The sounds; ഋ, അഃ, ഖ, ഘ, ഛ, ഝ, ഠ, ഢ, ഥ, ധ, ഫ, ഭ, ര, ഷ, സ, ഹ, ക്ഷ, ജ്ഞ, etc.. are derived from Sanskrit. Many Sanskrit words are also used intensively in Malayalam as nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, and so on. Even the grammar is also influenced by Sanskrit. In standard Malayalam, the use of Sanskrit increases while in local speaking it decreases. Not only Sanskrit, there are tons of words we derived from Portuguese, Dutch, English, Persian, Hindi, Arabic and even from Hebrew. It would be a hectic task for us to speak and write in pure Malayalam!! If Sanskrit was to be removed, all the other influences along with modern Tamil should also be removed. The concept present in Sanskritization of Malayalam is an ordinary phenomenon for every world languages. Just take the case for English, even though English was formed from Old-Germanic, it borrowed a lot of words from Romance languages like Spanish, France and from latin and Greek. This makes us feel English closer to these languages than German. The Hebrew spoken in Israel has a lot of Arabic origin words, even though Hebrew is a much older language than Arabic. Thai, Khmer, Indonesian, Malay, all faced the same thing. When our language's literary father figures tried to give an independent stance to Malayalam, they removed the over usage of both Sanskrit and Tamil words. We can limit the use of Sanskrit but cannot entirely remove it, we are not frustrated with that as our history, heritage, culture, art, dance forms are all influenced by Sanskrit and the people that use it. Kathakali, Koodiyattam, Nangyar kuth, Chakyar kuth all are Sanskrit theatre arts. Mohiniyattam which is based on Natyashastra also has vedic lineage. The Karnatic music prevalent in Kerala also has its roots in Sama Veda, which is of Sanskrit origin. Ganapati Homa, Yajnas, Tantric rites, vedic traditions, temple rituals all have vedic-sanskrit origins. We enjoy this diversity instead of retaining the "Pure Malayalam" concept.

You remind us that we are living in such an interconnected world and everything from what we eat to what we speak has evolved through a number of steps. Yes, the idea behind Hindi was not bad, but I guess the original government didn't know much about how to promote a language. People today speak Hindi (in north India - UP, Bihar, Jharkhand etc.) instead of Bhojpuri, Maithili or Awadhi not because they were taught in the school but because bollywood out of Bombay is dominant while local Bhojpuri movies are not. Languages don't ride on official madarsas, they ride on art, and art is subservient to the rich.

For example, if someone speaks to me in Hindi normally they usually tend to use the more Sanskritized version which is easily understandable due to sanskrit influence in south indian languages but when I hear to bollywood songs they tend to use more Urdu words (which can be identifies by the usage of words with Ph, Kh, Q) and I mostly don't get the meanings of the words used in the songs.

I am a Bangladeshi Bengali. I understand Hindi language better than Urdu. In fact Hindi language seems like Bengali to me. But to watch any movie or drama in Urdu I have to watch subtitles. Bengali words and Hindi words are largely similar. There is some difference in pronunciation. Bengali language has more influence of Sanskrit. If you look at Bengali grammar, here some rules of Sanskrit grammar written by Panini are directly applied. Since Persian was once the official language of the entire subcontinent, some Persian words have been absorbed into our language. Not only Persian, Arabic, English, Portuguese etc. words are also there. This is the case not only in Bengali but also in other languages of the subcontinent. You can even say that you will find this mixture in many languages of the world. For example, the word chocolate is Mexican but people all over the world are using this word. Keeping these things aside, one thing can be clearly said that the influence of Sanskrit is more in Bengali language. Behind this there is also a proper explanation regarding language family, regional development of language etc. Anyway love from Bangladesh ❤

@@sahilsingh6048The schwa in Bangla is topically not [o]. This is common mistake Hindi speakers make, because the actual sound does not exist in Hindi and they hear [o] as a result. In IPA, the sound is represented as [ɔ]. Bangla also does not derive its phonological developments from Hindi. While it is true that Hindi uses [ə] as its schwa and the [ə] to [ɔ] shift did take place in Bangla, this has its origins in Magadhi Prakrit, not in Hindi.

I initially thought that major Sanskrit influence in Hindi was the problem that made it difficult in Southern India, but on the contrary it is the persian influence that made it sound like a foreign language in the South. Just an example, Sundar, Soundarya etc words can easily be understood in Southern India but khoobsurat is a new and entirely foreign sounding sound for people in the South. Other most common examples are Bhoomi/Boomi vs zameen Bhasha /basa/bhasa/basha vs zabaan Sakti/Shakti vs takat Adhikar vs haq Niyam vs kanoon etc etc

As a Dravidian, I can understand Hindi more than Urdu. As some people is mistaken that Hindi is Sanskritized Hindustani. Even though, Hindi borrows many words from Sanskrit, it's roots are from Prakrit. So Hindi isn't Sanskritized Hindustani. It's a Prakritized Hindustani language. That's why others who learn Hindi can quickly understand other Aryan languages like Bengali (Bangla), Nepali etc. Urdu is more Persianised that we don't use Persian here and that's why Urdu is seen different here.

Hindus of Indonesia still chant Gayatri Mantra in Sanskrit, because it cannot be easily translated with correct meaning in Indonesian. Religion has always played am important role in language. At the height of the Bengali language movement in 1952, certain elements like Khwaja Nazimuddin (a scion of the Nawab family of Dhaka & the then PM of Pakistan) tried to gather support for Urdu imposition in Eastern Bengal by labelling Bengali as 'language of kafirs' & suggesting that Bengali Muslims abandon the Bengali script & instead use the Perso-Arabic Nashtaliq script for writing Bengali. Muslims write Sindhi & Kashmiri in Perso-Arabic Nastaliq script while Hindus write them in Devanagari (before Independence, Sindhi used to be written by Hindus in Khudabadi script while Kashmiri was written in Sharada script). Serbian & Croation are also considered as 2 dialects of the same language but differ in script due to religion (Croatians being Catholics use Latin script while Serbs being Eastern Orthodox use the Cyrillic script created by the Bulgarian Orthodox monk St. Cyril) & the bitterness between them (accelerated during WW2 when Croats perpetrated a Holocaust-like genocide of Serbs with support of Nazi Germany by utilising Catholic justification of killing heretics & Serbians perpetrating massacre of Croats in retaliation during the Yugoslav Wars) have solidified this divide.

I mean upto my grandfather's time learning Persian is a common practice in educated Muslim families. Even today my brother learned Farsi along with Arabic for his Aalim education because most of Muslim books are in Farsi. There are many books translated to Urdu but it is preferred to read books in its own language so that you can translate and understand on your own and you won't read mistranslated books as context changes with translation.

@@crimsoncrysolite5056 It depends on when and how they came to India. In south Tamil/Malayalam region Muslims are from Arab traders, some might have relocated there before mughals and delhi sultanate. So they have adapted local language. Also since Tamil region was never captured by any muslim king, Farsi and urdu was never adapted there. In banglore, hyderabad there are muslim communities who speaks urdu. But new generation is not well versed in urdu. And even in north Farsi is not common at this day and age. I am actually from rajasthan and I have very limited knowledge of Tamil region.

Finally I found a channel which satisfies my interest. Language ❤ And also, I haven't watched a more detailed and well researched video. Along with that, your dedication towards pronouncing the alphabets correctly of each language is something I have paid attention to all my life. I have never come across a person like me, who respects the essence of every language, equally. I didn't even realise how I watched a 28-minute long video without getting distracted or bored for even a second. I even wrote down that couplet and the word meanings side by side, *"Naqsh fariyadi. . . paikar-tasweer"*, I'm familiar with all these words because I'm from a Muslim family and we are familiar with these terms. Lastly, your voice modulation, texture, way of talking; is so soothing and relaxing. Overall, I fell in love at first sight with the content, presentation and presentator, altogether. Keep up the great work! Quality over quantity matters ❤

OMG, your content is just mind blowing dude. Keep it up! BTW, one correction though: Muslim invaders to India were not Turki_sh_, they were Turki_c_. There's a difference. Turkish people live in Anatolia, but Turkic people live in Central Asia in places like Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan etc. They are both related to each other because they are both descended from the same ancestral language called Proto-Turkic (which interestingly enough itself came from Mongolia). Just like how Farsi and Sanskrit both originate from Indo-Iranian. Babar for example, came from the Ferghana Valley in modern-day Uzbekistan, not Turkey, and AFAIK India has never had invaders coming directly from the region in or near modern-day Turkey after Alexander.

I feel a more accurate comparison is between paneer ka parantha and aloo ka parantha. Literally only stuffing is different, the way of making it, the way of eating it, the nutritional value, everything else is exactly the same. The "vibe" you've mentioned is entirely a social construct, Farsi poetry was more famous and Sanskrit religious shlokas were more famous, hence the feeling we get when we hear Farsi-rooted Urdu vocabulary being more artsy and Sanskrit-rooted Hindi vocabulary being more priesty.

Examine the chronological evolution of language in Northern India. It commenced with the ancient Vedic Sanskrit and advanced through stages such as Classical Sanskrit, Pali, Prakrit, Apabhramsha, and Avhatta. A meticulous scrutiny of this progression unveils a fascinating transformation in grammatical structures as these languages develop over time. In its origins, Vedic Sanskrit, the language of the initial three Vedas, is believed to have been orally transmitted through the revered traditions of Shruti and Smriti. Subsequently, meticulous codification of linguistic rules by Kashyapa, Panini, and other scholars gave rise to the eloquent Classical Sanskrit. During this epoch, illustrious literary works like the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, Puranas, and the emergence of celebrated poets such as Kalidasa and Bhasa marked a significant cultural zenith. As time advanced, the divergence from the strict grammatical norms of Classical Sanskrit paved the way for the emergence of Pali, a language employed by Gautam Buddha in propagating his teachings. Further standardization and the establishment of linguistic regulations led Pali to evolve into Prakrit, becoming the language for the majority of Buddhist texts. Gradually, the grammatical framework of Prakrit underwent erosion, ultimately giving rise to Apabhramsha, aptly named for its inherently "distorted" nature. Apabhramsha found extensive application in literary works, and through its absorption of some grammatical rules and poetic elements from Sanskrit and Prakrit, it transformed into Avhatta. This intricate process illustrates the natural evolution and adaptation of languages throughout history, shedding light on the simultaneous transition from colloquial to refined grammatical forms. It's important to emphasize that language transformations are complex and defy clear categorization. The process is marked by a continuous, gradual, flexible, and overlap of linguistic stages rather than a distinct separation between languages.

It was Pali Prakrit (or simply Pali) first, and then Sanskrit. There is no evidence to prove that Sanskrit was before Pali Prakrit. But there is evidence which clearly shows that Pali Prakrit existed before Sanskrit. And evidence is from authoritative bodies like the Government of India and UNESCO. The oldest language found from India which has been decoded is Pali Prakrit which dates back from 5th to 6th century. The name of the manuscript which contains this language is called Gilgit Manuscript. You can search the Gilgit Manuscript UNESCO PDF and you will get the link. Open the PDF, you will see that it was submitted by the GOI to UNESCO. One interesting thing in the document is that you will see that the name of the script is Buddhist Hybrid Sanskrit (or Brahmi Script). But the actual name is Dhamma Lipi. Infact, the inscription that was found has an engraving that is Pali language and script is Dhamma Lipi. But as you know we Brahmins are smart, even though it was written Dhamma Lipi, we translated it to Brahmi Lipi. As you know, we never did archaeological excavations. It was the British who did it for the first time in India and later did multiple times. So, we told them it's Brahmi Lipi and Hybrid Sanskrit, or things like "Bheem ki Gada" when we saw the pillar of Ashoka. Unfortunate for us that Britishers had to dig out our history. But in later excavations, it got clear that it's totally a new script and language. The oldest Sanskrit manuscript found from India is Rigveda which has been dated back to 1464 AD. You will need to do the same thing for the proof - search Rigveda UNESCO PDF. Now, as we know Sanskrit the way it is (not talking about transliteration) cannot be written without Devanagari, and Devanagari script evolved from Nagari script around 1200 AD. So, we can clearly deduce from this, that Sanskrit developed during 1200 AD. The Vedic Sanskrit that we talk about, has never been found. No evidence at all. All the evidence points to Pali Prakrit. But here is the thing. We are talking about the languages which have been decoded. But if we go before the times of Pali Prakrit, then the oldest language found from India is the one from the Indus Valley civilization which has not yet been decoded. People from archaeology, history and language science are working on decoding it. Let's see what comes out.

@@Voicefromthepast I "deduced" it based on the evidence from the credible source like GOI and UNESCO. I might be a bit here and there. But here is the thing. I, at least, provided some evidence to back what I am deducing, but you didn't provide any evidence for the claims you made. Also, while countering me you simply said it wrong but didn't provide evidence. So, if your arguments are not backed by evidence, there is no credibility unless you think your claims are the evidence and above the authoritative bodies like the GOI and UNESCO.

@santhoshrider7348
@santhoshrider7348 11 ай бұрын
@@iipNot exactly. Even if the Tamil language was not desanskritised it will still be the major Indian language with lesser Sanskrit influence. The desanskritisation just removed 15% of redundant Sanskrit vocabularies (redundant meaning: those Sanskrit words are additionally used with synonymous Tamil words). Like how the Bollywood uses unnecessary Arabic/Persian words in the songs (of course they add beauty & nice to hear but no one understands their meaning). Still you can see 10% of Sanskrit words in present day Tamil which can also be desanskritised but due to some historical reasons they are left. Tamil language was always not heavily Sanskritised like other languages. That's the reason why you can see Tamil vedas like "Naalayira Divya prabandham" for Sri Vaishnavas and "Thevaaram, Thiruvaasagam, etc" for Shaivites exist. No other Indian language has religious texts that are considered equal to Vedas. You can go to any Vaishnava temple in south India (Melkote, Tirupati, Sriramgam, etc) , there the priest will recite both Tamil and Sanskrit verses inside the Garbhagriha. All over Tamilnadu, the Holy Tamil texts like "Thevaaram, Thiruvaasagam, etc" will be sung in Shiva temples. These Holy texts of the Tamil language were written 1000's of years ago long before the Desanskritisation movement that held.
