From a full time framer, I think you got skills. Its looking great. I'd like to build something similar. Do you have access underneath the floor? Was there a reason for the low slope roof or just make it easier to work on?
@MBFModernHomesteading9 ай бұрын
Hey, we have a couple access points at the rear of the building for underneath, I can also get under from the front if need be under the deck. We went with a 4 / 12 pitch as I was putting them up with my wife in the winter and made it easier. It is the lowest I would go around here with the snow, but lots of folks have them like this and it works. I usually do a 5/12 so I can still easily walk on it too.

I was glad when you said this cabin was going to become your homestead because I was thinking, this is nothing like the off grid cabins I’ve seen on KZbin, it’s house! If I could ask, what your power source and are you worried about the ever changing permafrost line? ( that way of ‘seating’ your base was new to me.)

We have portable power stations that we are using at the moment to power. We will also utilize propane for the stove and hot water. And no worries on the screw piles.

I'm on time this go around hey have y'all ever thought or heard of a mini-split they do both heating and cooling 9000 btu or a 12,000 btu MrCool or a Senville mines Senville but a lot of people on solar are using these along with they wood stove to heat they whole cabins and they are very efficient look up running mini-split on Solar I think it's something y'all would like
@MBFModernHomesteading Жыл бұрын
Thanks and we have seen those and think it would be a great idea in here :)
@diysolaradventures7894 Жыл бұрын
@@MBFModernHomesteading yes because you can fire up the wood stove power up just the blower part of the mini split it sucks the hot air in from the top part of the indoor unit in blows it out in your cabin and that's without even having the outdoor unit running even though it also provide heat to when you put the setting on heat

How do you heat the bedrooms? Does the wood stove create enough heat that it keeps the bedrooms warm even through the walls? The living area must be a lot warmer because the wood stove is tight there? Just curious? Thanks
@MBFModernHomesteading Жыл бұрын
The wood stove, if anything, you would probably want to keep the doors closed so you aren’t too hot. And as long as you regulate the fire properly and have a good wood stove, you can manage the heat pretty good. Thanks 😊

@MBFModernHomesteading11 ай бұрын
The cost is nearly double and unnecessary for the exterior walls. We use it inside for sound dampening, it is already very quiet out here in the woods for the exterior.
