In the U.S. the Esso brand was changed to Exxon starting in the Fall of 1972. Esso service stations still exists today in countries such as Canada, South Africa and European countries. "Put a Tiger in your Tank!" and "Happy Motoring!"

Yet today they would probably call these people greedy gas hogging pigs. It amazes me how good we had it back then, opposed to what type of crap we are dealing with today.

The franchise based service station model turned out to be a disaster. Too many dealers ran their station like junk yards.
