How happy will they be after 20 years of Retirement and 20 Years of Inflation.
Purchasing power for Americans is eroding fast, since I started my career in Real Estate in 1974, the dollar has lost 84% of its value. If Retirees are on fixed income, not only did they lose purchasing power through Inflation, but any Fixed Income investment has been devastated by rising Interest rates. What happens to Interest rates when Inflation is rising? Rates rise! Could we see 9 to 13% Mortgage rates again.
That would make today's 7% rates look pretty good.
My best Strategy is to invest in Real Assets that make a Hedge against Inflation. Real Estate rentals, particularly affordable rentals are a perfect choice. Just buy 2!
