public land and open country = very hard hunt, we hunt in a pretty open area in idaho and ya its like you have to be agressive but not when they can see you. alot of putting them to bed and sneeking close and waiting for them to wake up and ambush.

I can’t believe yall left Nevada to go hunt Montana for elk. Nevada by far has way better trophy opportunities. The season goes to the 16th of November. I wouldn’t trade a day of Nevada elk hunting for a week in Montana. Montana is an awesome landscape but as far as trophy potential it cannot beat Nevada.

It was a tag violation, any hunter can easily get one, all you have to do is forget to sign the paper tag, or mess up and use the wrong tag, it's a like getting a ticket for a rolling stop at a stop sign. It's not a felony, that's killing to many animals or hunting at night. Has nothing to do with poaching, that is illegally killing game
