#160 on your 200th. I wanted to wait 40 more, but I couldn't! 😂 Merry Christmas to everyone at Another Time, Another Place. I hope all 3 of you have a great day. 😊 One quick thought: see if you can find a small fan to blow that heat around: hot and cold spots are less comfortable than even temps when walking around in our travel trailer. You can get 12v ones from old PCs for nothing to a couple of bucks. You don't want a lot of air movement, just enough to 'stir the soup.' Too much airflow makes you think it's colder (wind chill factor): this is a true case of 'too little is bad, too much is bad; just right is just right.' Keep living the dream, brother, I'll keep living vicariously thru you 3. 👍

Merry Christmas Martin River and Cricket. Hope you all had a great day. That storm at the beginning of the episode I wouldn't mind, looking at what the weather was like the next day. Even don't mind ice cold days, as long as the sun's out. What's not to like about the scenery and sunshine, with them calm waters. That fireplace is definitely going to do it's job 👍. Until next time, take care

The stove might draft better with a swept 90 degree elbow in place that square corner. I didn't get a good look at the straight section of pipe outside but I think it was short or nothing but a spark arresting a screen after the elbow. Another length of pipe similar to what you have inside would also help it draft better. I always open the ash pan door a little when first lighting the stove for better draft. It doesn't take long for it to get going that way. Bring your wood in to dry a little better next to the stove before use. Merry Christmas!

In my lifetime as an Outdoor enthusiast, on Canoe Trips and Hunting Fishing Trips I have been caught out on open water where the winds whipped up, sky went Black, massive rain, all in five minutes on Georgian Bay. Finding yourself in 5 Ft. waves in situations like this, lighting striking all around in a 16 Ft. Aluminum fishing boat...yes...I have a John McStain in my skivvies more than once....YOU MUST have a deep respect for the powers of Nature, and despite the best safety precautions you can get caught short....don't panic, keep your head, and be confident you have gotten right with the Man upstairs and he will call my home at his divine timing.

Minor suggestions. Always start a really hot twig or paper fire and heat the chimney it will draw much better and minimize the smoke inside. Strap the chimney outside, screw the legs down making sure the stove doesn’t move and create a disaster. Enjoy a toasty winter!!

Thanks Bud. That's a really good tip warming, the chimney of something. I never end up really doing and my dad always did it. I appreciate it brother good looking out.

open damper and shut off air inlet a few seconds before opening stove door. I tell ya martin firebrick does help a lot especially when trying to slow burn so its not too hot. Gives a steadier long-lasting heat at low burns as well. I think you can make your own bricks not to mention custom shape them. Nothing wrong with the pipe angles as all pipes need to get warm to draw smoke up. A cold air feed from outside makes a difference as it keeps it from pulling air out of the cabin plus it stops it from pulling cold air from outside into the cabin. also, cold air makes it burn better. All kinds of ways to tweek it. I think yours is great as it is. Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas! You should get 6-4” hose clamps and 3 small p😅of sheet metal and make a coupling to not only cover seems of pipe but would help hold it in place. The old hose clamps and soup can trick to fix exhaust pipes

Couple bungee cords and short piece of light metal chain could hold the stove pipe up outside of the cabin.. I assume you could put a couple hooks in the roof eave and hook it up like that or just use some baling wire with one hook in the eave holding the outside stove pipe in place! Merry Christmas Sailor!!

Pretty impressed that you're able to stay warm without the cabin being insulated, are you planning to add any later, and do you experience condensation on the walls from the temperature differential? I know you build your boats out of lumber, have you ever seen anyone build the cabin with an aluminum shed kit you can buy
@ATAP...AnotherTime2 күн бұрын
Thanks for asking bud, I may add some type of insulation, However, everything's comfortable right now. It's just a matter of how much money i'm spending on diesel or fuel for air conditioning. I don't like the idea of the weight that would be added by me putting in. Whatever wood I use to cover up the insulation? Because I don't want to look at insulin. So we'll see. Have Kayaks will travel, posted a video of someone who used metal, I have no problem with condensation whatsoever. Great questions. My friend. I appreciate you checking on them. 👍

I would wire (two hose clamps) the horizontal to the vertical flu just beyond the corner piece so temperature expansion pop-opens couldn't happen after bed. Simple safety solution but then, I'm no expert. DIY here.
