For those you complaining....You can buy a brand new 2024 key west 1720 for 30k.....or get a 2004 key west 1720 for free and then spend 15k or less repowering/ fixing it up good as new. The choice is yours 😉

I was with SanFran Boat works and down in Tarpon Springs and yes I have been involved with this kind of dirty jobs . You did good . If that RAM has a Cummins and is going to pull this boat to the ramps , can you atleast give it also a nice good and heavy compound buff and bring back that paint . Finnese will pop that colour like this boat . I just subed and will be watching more . Watching from Kleinburg ON... Wish I was back in Tampa Bay or East Bay

🤣 and now I'm addicted to smelling gas. 😅 I open the thermostats and gutted them. The water here in Florida (Tampa Bay area) or even anywhere in Florida, doesn't really get so cold that thermostats are really necessary. You did a lot of fine work on that boat. NICE job 👏 👍
@myronstutzman1344

The purpose of your thermostat is to open when your engine is hot to cool it, it has nothing to do with the temperature of the water

If modern engine ecu will try to burn extra gas by changing injection timing (longer and delayed injection) just to heat up the engine block, older engine burn less gas and better when at the right temp. you don't want to run without thermostat, engine will be too cold even in florida with water at 80 +

I’m telling you, try out 30 second cleaner from Home Depot. Or Lowes. Get a small pump sprayer that hold two gallons. You mix it with a gallon of water and then spray the whole boat down. The green and black mold melt right off. Easiest cleaner I’ve ever used.

The fuel water separator part 🙈🙊. I replace my Racor PFF5510 every year but always a worry. I know winterizing is not necessary in Florida BUT curious if you believe in filling the fuel tank + stabil for winter storage or if you think the less fuel left over the winter.. the better…

I like your videos af rebuilding boats. I'm from europe and does also rebuilt older boats and engines. Was wondering about when you talks about the speed you are running in your boats, that's always in miles, is that sea-miles (Knots) or just normal miles?
@2hvybg3ybm
@2hvybg3ybm Ай бұрын
Looks like a Yamaha 6Y5 speed gauge which will do kmh/knots/mph. And will do km/mile as trip. Not sure why it doesn't have an option for nautical miles tho. The tach is probably also an 6Y5. But logically for an European sailor "knots" would be preferred "speed" term 😉 From a fellow Dane. 🎉

I repair boats for a living. If you ever take a pump out and housing you break the integrity of the gaskets and sealing of the water pump housing. Between the harden impeller and the gaskets you just broke the sealing on you could cause a sealing issue and the bent impeller wont pump at 100% Anytime on any tear down on a gear case always change out the pump housing , gaskets and new impeller . I mean if you are 20 miles out in the ocean you really want to trust your life and engine to a 10 year old plus hard impeller and worn water pump housing and gaskets? I have seen 100s of impellers break off inside the housing and quit pumping all together and you can burn up a power head in about two minutes Not worth rolling the dice on . I do love the video and you restoring the boat. Please people never put in the old impeller and housing and gaskets always have a complete pump kit on hand and change it out and do it right.
