"Stripped out special edition pista"? Its the hardcore track version. All track focused cars are slower in a straight line. The track version 720 will also be slower. Also the pista is almost 100hp LESS than the 720.

When you consider the Pista is the track focused version of the current Ferrari mid engined V8 and the 720S isn’t an LT.… Ferrari are a step behind. That said, and it’s just a fact, the Pista is a great track car, better than the 720S. Both cars are 👍 and the 720S appears to be somewhat of a performance bargain, especially with the depreciation.

Yes I agree with you, but as you’ve seen Ferrari has always had this thing where if you post anything negative or show they’re cars losing in any way they get their panties in a bunch like a 4 year old that didn’t get their way.....so basically Robert was probably doing damage control against future shit that was potentially going to roll down hill for him being part of a video in which the Pista lost. What is the confusion here? The Pista has shorter gears, pulls away at the start for a brief moment, then gets destroyed by the 720S. That's all there is to it. Even up to 1/2 mile the 720S was still faster. Robert could talk all he wants about the Pista pulling back after 300 kph, but that to me is not verified and probably quite irrelevant. Other than that, both cars sound like crap, but the Pista is a quite a looker though.

The Pista definitely has the advantage at lower rpm, maybe shorter gearing or better response from turbo's. But the 720S really pulled it in. It also has less drag (it's less track focused), so I expected the 720S to pass it at mid-high speed. Both were so close though. I'd call it pretty much even with a slight edge to 720S. Driver weight could literally have been the deciding factor. I I still really want to see a standard start race, and possibly some track laps head to head 😁

i think you will find that given apex name / reputation and relationship with both companies, they where always going to be very gentlemanly to either the Ferrari or the mclaren in this test, the fact Robert has the balls to let drag times film in his cars needs to earn him huge respect.

@@thomasferrarojr.9772 actually yes that's 1 of the reasons i bought the spider. I think the pista is beautiful but still on the same platform as my 458 so similar exterior and interior. The 720s looks like nothing else on the road and people call it a spaceship. Lol i could've gotten a pista coupe but not the spider and there are several benefits of the 720 spider over the pista spider imo. As for sound i haven't compared them under load where my spider comes alive with up and down shift pops. Both are great but i guess i wanted something that looked different and beautiful at the same time! To each his own!

Roberts a great dude met him when I went for my taxi ride but I'll tell you right now that Ferrari was never coming back on the top end unless the McLaren lets off first.. the Ferraris got a better front half if anything after aerodynamics come into play It's over for the Pista..

Brooks, finally a location that showcase what these supercars are truly capable of the Autobahn. Big thumbs up to the owner of the Ferrari Pista and the 720's. The numbers are in and the video doesn't lie the 720's is faster than the Ferrari Pista. They ran several races 2nd gear in 3rd gear from dig and each time the 720 won its race. On race track I think pista will take it. To me the big difference was in the gearing and less lag of the Pista at the beginning of each race but it didn't matter each and every time the 720's boost would kick in and 720s would just run down Pista and pass him. The next few years are going to be pretty exciting with the new LT 720's which will be game changer and new C8 coming out. The C8 ZR1 could turn out to GOD killer if base model stingray can do claimed 0 to 60 in under 3 sec imagine what C8 ZR1could do as long if can get traction. One of the most beautiful super cars in my opinion Lamborghini Aventador starting to get old in the tooth and should be replaced soon rumors of NO forced induction for raging bull but instead hybrid electric motors up front and V12 or perhaps V10 maybe V8 to help keep weight down. That could put into hyper car territory. Even Huracan Evo is putting down some good numbers. Going to a very interesting next few yrs. Brooks hopefully you can do more of these videos we Know there difficult to set up but it more that worth it. You truly get to see these cars in their element. And by far this has been my favorite video today no drag strips roll racing or air strips with horrible roads surface. Keep up good work and glad to you switched over to the dragy much more accurate than vbox.
