For hunting, the cold bore shot is really the only one that counts.

Cold Bore shot is a myth, 99% of the time the "Cold Bore Shot" is the shooter.
@Pew_pewchronicles Жыл бұрын
Instead of discounting, the cold bore shot. You should continue to shoot cold bore on the same target on different days until you blueprint. What exactly is the point of impact when the gun is cold the first jet is the most important one on a hunting load what it does once it’s hot it doesn’t matter. You will probably get only one shot the cold bore shot , so shooting a group on paper cold bore shots only it will develop a pattern and you will know where the zero needs to be on your rifle for when the opportunity presents itself during a hunt

Great video, however if this is a hunting load and the cold bore shot is different from the warm groups…… how would you suggest using this load when hunting? the first shot counts the most???? Right?

In my area the max distance your going to reasonable shoot is 200-250 max. 1 to 2 Inches is really not going to be a large factor at that distance.

Is your Labradar set up to measure muzzle velocity or velocity downrange?

The Labradar measures 5 velocities. I list the closest to the muzzle it can measure.

How cold the shooter is can also affect your groups. Probably more so than the rifle. Same goes for wind direction and speed.

I develop at 100 and verify and fine tune at 300. 100 is for 22LR and ARs, bolt guns aren't fun or challenging till 300 plus.

Other than you need to figure out your dope...not too shabby. Likes the matchburner

One thing I like to do is shoot exactly like this (no elevation change) so that I can see what my actual drop in inches is. This makes truing data in calculator easier.
@jdrollason Жыл бұрын
@@connerm4850 I guess I worded that incorrectly. I fully support doing load development like this because, just as you said, it allows you to figure out the elevation drop.

Hey Rob, do you think the 6 ARC would be adequate for hunting whitetails out to 350 yards with a "20 barrel running say 105 Berger or 108 ELDM's? Really debating on running a 6MM of some sort suppressed this year....my shots are typically within 200 yards and I want something light and handy with low recoil and barrel life. Let me know what you think, thanks
@RobsReloading8 ай бұрын
Would be better with the 103 eldx. Should be a fine combination for whitetail

Do you like the 6 arc in the mdt chassis? Looking at a switchback and not so impressed with the green stock.
@texpatriot8462 Жыл бұрын
I have the same setup with 6ARC in the MDT Chassis. Love it, but it is too heavy for hunting. I use it for range fun and it feels like cheating.
@sethboyce9832 Жыл бұрын
I actually like the cheap green stock the switchback comes with for hunting. I have one in 6 arc. It has feeding issues when in the factory switchback stock tho so I’ve switched stocks (same factory mags and different cheap savage factory stock fixed the feeding issue for the most part)

Have you shot any deer size game with the ARC yet? If so what bullet did you use and what bullet would you recommend?

Have not yet! I'm sure it would do well with the proper bullet. I would feel comfortable with the eld-x 103gr from Hornady.

I saw your other video before this when it came out. I must say, the 112s MBs are doing real good. Im gonna try them in my 20"SS416R AR platform and see how well. Can you tell where to find the 112s? Good day!
@dahut3614 Жыл бұрын
This load is toward the high end of bolt-gun-pressure. If loaded to gas-gun-pressure, you would only see around 2350 fps out of a 20-inch barrel. These were also loaded very long at 2.335-inches and likely wouldn't fit in your magazine. Barnes does also make a 105 grain Match Burner, which is 0.130-inch shorter.
@mostrogolf22 Жыл бұрын
@@dahut3614 Yes, that I understand, just curious because the 110A max is also an option I use the 105s and love them.

@RobsReloading i shoot 224 v and 6mm spc slightly smaller body than 6mm arc. MDT does make the composite 224 V/ 6.8 spc mags anymore. Was curious about the 6mm arc metal bolt gun mag. The 6mm spc duplicates and or exceeds 6mm arc with slightly less powder. I started shooting the 6mm spc before the 6mm arc was copied by hornady.

What don't you like about 200 yards? Sounds like you don't like group size. Since 200 yards is nothing for precision shooting and kind of average for open forest hunting, I would worry much more about what went wrong and less about video esthetics.
