Fun test with different powders. Specifically a powder with no load data that should work based on burn rate
@snyderman97913 сағат бұрын
Would you recommend this powder for a 6 GT? No known data as far as I know.
@RobsReloadingСағат бұрын
No I did videos with it and experienced hang fires if I remember correctly. You should be able to search and find the videos

I don't mean to be rude so I apologize if I come off that way, but a lot of your testing seems to lack some key element. You change too many variables at once, don't shoot enough shots, don't have chrono data, etc, and it often leads to you having more questions than answers at the end. I would HIGHLY recommend loading a few more rounds to use as foulers/sighters and to warm up the barrel before shooting groups. I would also recommend shooting at least 10 shots of anything other than a velocity workup if you want the results to be even remotely meaningful (and ideally more like twenty). In this video, since both 5 shot groups were of the same load, you need to look at them as an aggregate; a single 10 shot group rather than separate 5 shot groups. And it doesn't look like your rifle likes that load. On all your dasher videos someone comments how slow you run them, have you tried working up anything faster with different powders? Just a thought. Thank you for your content sir, I greatly enjoy and appreciate it

This staball load is a mess around with load so that’s why I am changing variables. This channel is really me testing a ton of different things. Only some videos have a true end goal. I have a solid target 105 hybrid load for the dasher so this is more of a fun test. Almost all of what I do on this channel is just fun testing. We are only sometimes looking at serious development for a specific goal

No V0 SD/ED so difficult to tell if the first group vertical was velocity driven. Second group horizontal was improved due to a marked calming of the wind. Thrown charges can easily account for much of the first group vertical. You need to shoot more shots, 5 is not significant. You do not know if the barrel requires a warm up or not, or what it does if you change propellant before cleaning.

What’s interesting is having a dasher and running it at less than straight 6BR speeds. You are 100 fps slow and have been with every load you shot out of this Dasher. Clearly the load isn’t stabil no matter what the es and sd say. Yet u keep beating a dead horse.

My Dad tried staball in his 7mm mag and he wasn't happy, but he seems to be optimistic using LRT. He has some of bis reloder 26 left. He has a honey of a load with that one. He runs a 184gr berger on his reloder 26. It's a crazy accurate load. He can shoot the push pins at 100 yards every time. He runs a seekins havoc with a nightforce scope.

First time viewer, I appreciate the test. However with the current price difference of the two, I'd take Superformance all day. Varget is literally 2x the cost. Unless you're shooting competitively past 300yd, I don't think you'll notice a difference other than your wallet being lighter 🤣Besides you can always zero your gun with a "cold load", and keep your rounds in a cooler with some ice packs prior to shooting a stage in competition.

45.3-45.7 is the node for that load and length. I shot a 0.342 with 100gr amax, hornady case, ccI LRM primer, varget at 39.6 and 2.198 bto in the same gun.
@patpatrick746 күн бұрын
You should really try a long barrel 25 creedmoor. 31” Shilen select with 43.5 grains of N555 sends the 135 Berger LRHT 2950 and match accuracy. No pressure. 43.4 is a recommended load for 140s in a 6.5 creed per Viht.

Where are the BR Primers?
@nathanbailey91537 күн бұрын
I've had good luck with StaBALL, especially StaBALL HD with Federal 215M Magnum Match Primers. Very good ES and SD's (low single digits). With CCI magnum primers the ES and SD have been a little larger, but not terrible. As far as sudden, somewhat un-explainable, stiff bolt lift, have you been diligent about cleaning the throat area of your chamber. Carbon ring is a big culprit in that kind of thing. And some guns are more sensitive to it than others.
@bobbywinn65487 күн бұрын

@rustynut19677 күн бұрын
I would figure out why your getting the heavy bolt lift. Maybe case length is a little long? Or is the base of the brass getting blown out. If it's the later you might be a little to hot on the charge for that powder with that brass. The look of the primers doesn't always tell the whole story. It could have something to do with the two groups not being as good and not necessarily the primer.

Good shooting. I don’t understand the difference that could cause the heavy bolt. That’s definitely strange but I’m guessing increases in pressure doesn’t always make higher velocity maybe 🤷🏽♂️

Peak pressure is different than average pressure so you can definitely have lower velocity and higher peak pressure. Depends on the combination of everything

It appeared to me that you shot the Vargat right after the super performance. And did not give the gun 15 minutes to cool down. Regardless of the temperature instability, super performance held a tighter group. Both groups seem to hit the same elevation at the same point regardless of the instability with super performance.
