2000-2005 Toyota Celica MR2 Spyder Fuel Pump Fuel Filter Replacement Install

How to swap a fuel pump and fuel pump assembly filter on a 7th Gen Celica or MR2 Spyder.
Leave any questions in the comments and I will answer them.
Fuel pressure spec for this car is 46 psi.

i wanted to see what seals(o rings ) are used for inlet and outlet of the fuel filter, all videos at you tube wont show those

that 'one way valve' is the fuel pressure regulator :-)

do you have a part number for that new filter housing ? it appears the new sock filter came already installed on the new housing. thx for the helpful video.

Question, do you mean you can buy a filter with the whole housing. Ie plug and play? I don't feel like going thru all the work to remove all the parts to put in a new pump and filter. Mind you my Celica is almost as 122k miles or 193k km

Can the tank be replaced without tearing apart the interior? Just unplug everything from under the car?

You could drop the entire gas tank but it would be much more work. To put things into perspective, some cars don't have the access hole under the rear seat, and it is still easier to take the rear seats out and cut a hole in the shell than it is to drop the gas tank each time you do this procedure. All you have to do is pop out the rear seat and pry open the access hole gasket.

Jonny Giger I really appreciate the prompt reply. Thank you! I'm asking because my tank is severely rusted and has multiple vapor leaks, so it fails PA inspection and I get a "check engine light" for an evap leak. I have a new tank and straps to replace it with, I was just hoping I didn't have to do any work in the interior of the car AND drop the tank. I'm sure this will be no fun either way :) Thanks again for your time and knowledge.

Rockauto.com Filter about 18 bucks strainer sock about five bucks I didn't price the pump as mine is working strong so I won't be replacing it.

Do you need to disconnect the battery?

No, there is no any reason to do that
