I saw the World championship team final in gothenburg 1993 when Sweden beat them in the final for the third time in a row and all chinese players, except one was crying afterwards, it was pathetic to see.

Mine too. Not because of the point itself but because of the "reaction". Most "modern" players would shout and jump around like hell after such point but Waldner just casually walks away like it was nothing special. LOL

Even withstanding this match being played during (the dusk of) the hidden-serve/celluloid era, the serving by both is absolutely sublime. Such variation, such precision in placement… Completely beats me how Liu is able to conjure so much spin with the equipment that he uses. The serves of contemporary players simply aren’t this good.
