@@oldnintendolink thank you for the reply. I hope you’re right. I’m only 19 year old, so I asked my dad for input on what would be a good car , because I don’t want to spend a 2 or 3 thousand Dollar and end up with some piece crap, like a Chevy cavalier. my dad told that he think Acura TL will be a reliable car and fun car. he is a big fan of early 2000s Honda/ Acura vehicles, also it is well maintained by the originally Owner with service records and no rust Also, it actually only has 127,000 miles, not 137. That was a typo in my original comment.

Lots of people say it's a fancy accord,but it has a different motor, transmission,and body. I bought mine in 2012, and paid 7400, wish it were a stick, the tranny's are it's weak link, been driving like a baby carriage to make it last, engine is still strong with over 233miles.

$7995 with 73k miles in 2012! you could have drove that for 9 years and sold it for the same price during Covid! I just bought a 2000. The Acura drives so much better than the 2004 Lexus ES330 I had a six months earlier. However this generation also were known to have weak transmissions, so don't neglect changing the filter and fluid!

Someone is giving a 2000 TL with 230k miles to me for free. It was his sisters daily driver, she gave it to him and he’s a mechanic and has no use for it. I know the transmission is a ticking time bomb, but it was shifting fine when I test drove the car so I will just drive it till it blows up and just scrap it (or replace the trans if I decide it’s worth it) since it’s a free car. Will be a nice backup for my 2007 Mercedes E550

@@jared8847 I lent it to my brother and he abused tf out of it and eventually blew the transmission lol. Had like 250k on it. Didn’t have time to put a new trans in it so unfortunately I sent it to the junkyard. I now have a 2001 Acura RL I bought a few months ago for $1800 bucks. Also has a little over 230k miles on it. It needs some work, but the interior is clean and the transmission shifts like butter

+2007350ZHR Even though my car runs great with so many miles, it is a fifteen year old car with a lot of miles. So, buying one with that many miles is taking a huge risk no matter what car it is. This is a near luxury car and as such, maintenance can be fairly pricey. In addition, some normal wear items which should have been done may not have. Such as was the timing belt changed along with the water pump? If the timing belt snaps, goodbye engine. The five speed automatic was extremely troublesome, with a nearly 100% failure rate at some point. Mine was replaced at 34,000 miles. The service tech advised me to change the trannie fluid every 2 years or 24,000 miles. I've been doing this and so far no more transmission issues. I would suggest you try to find a newer but smaller car with a lot fewer miles.

@TheItsmegp46
@TheItsmegp46 9 жыл бұрын
+C Trey I don't get why you use D4. The transmission is automatic. Under normal driving conditions, street, highway, you should keep the gear shifter in D5. You get much better mileage, its quieter, less wear on the engine. Also, in D4, the transmission never locks out the torque converter at highway speeds.
