This is hands down, the best instructional clutch bleeding video on KZbin. Listen to an expert, and not some 1st timer in his driveway.

I had watched several videos on bleeding the master, which did me no good in getting the job done. They were idealistic garbage in/garbage out repeats. You do a great job of explaining the "why" and "how" of doing this. I went right out to my shop and got it done in a few minutes. With what I learned from you, I was able to diagnose a faulty ($50) speed-bleeder that was causing complications. Once we coaxed all of the bubbles out as shown, the LS7 stage 2 clutch works perfect! I know how but you might do a video on how to set the clutch pedal travel on a high-output master so as not to overload the master. Thanks!!

Great video. My two cents: if you’re by yourself, you can open the bleeder and let it drip for a minute or two. Then close the bleeder and pump the pedal about 30 times and open the bleeder again and let drip for a minute. Usually I’ll have a good pedal after that, but you can repeat as necessary til you get a good pedal. Now, doing it this way probably requires more brake fluid lol, but has always worked for me. Disclaimer: this method may not remove all the air from the system and you should have it professionally serviced by a certified technician to ensure proper operation of the clutch system on your vehicle

Great Video! Amazing Pictures. He's not kidding when he says its a tight fit. Just did this job and was looking for ways to make the clutch pedal as bled as possible. Thank You soo much.

What I've found out is that using a clear hose, that the air comes from over the "barbs". And even from around the threads of the bleeder screw itself. I usually put a smear of grease or antisieze on the bleeders threads. That way you're not sucking air on the back-stroke.

So the fluid that comes out of the bleeder - where does it go? Do you just allow it to run into the bellhousing or is there a tube pushed into the end of the bleeder, which would require a ratchet with a through hole?? The bleed line on my 99 TA is just a hex with a hole in the middle. it does not have standard bleeder fitting with a nipple.
@codya79094 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary, thanks so much for posting this video. Is there any risk to the clutch if some fluid drips through and out of the bell housing? Did my best to capture it but wasn't 100%.

seems to me that you can skip the vacuum pump set up and go straight to the short stroke purge and push the bubbles out first THEN bleed, Then short stroke purge.

This video is great! I have used to it replace the clutch master cylinder in my 97 Camaro, but I have now encountered a problem, while bleeding system I noticed a lot bubble coming through the transparent tube while applied vacuum and it remained like that for about 5 minutes, took a look under the car and brake fluid was leaking from where the slave cylinder connects into the trans, I pulled on it and it wouldn't come loose, and when I use the tool to push the plastic piece up o release it, it would budge or come out, when can I do to resolve this?

My 10646 Duralast clutch master cylinder interfered with the brake booster and cracked the reservoir hose at the master cylinder. It is identical to Clutch Tech part in this video. Not happy with the replacement clutch master cylinder. It has the same interference and will crack the reservoir hose in a few months.

Can I use the clear tube as a permanent replacement? The video was beyond informative. Thank you sir

Any tips for getting the quick disconnect hose from the master cylinder to stay in the slave cylinder? I've had the transmission out twice now because it keeps ejecting. The first time, it damaged the female connector and I had to replace a brand new slave cylinder since the fitting isn't sold separately. Now that I've done that, the quick disconnect hose ejects from the slave cylinder as soon as I get any pressure on the pedal while bleeding it.

My dad have a V6 3.8 the clutch pedal are stuck on the floor 1 time /2 and won't up back. We change the master cylinder, bleeding like you say. And the clutch stuck down like 1/100 now but still sometime. I try the soft push like you said on the end of the video but no bubble... Slave cylinder is the problem?

Will this work on a 1994 Chevrolet 2500 with NV4500? I replaced the master and slave. I bleed it out. Was able to drive. Tried to use it again after a short time and it wouldn't go into gear. Grinding etc. If I get in gear it won't come out. The pedal goes down but feels strangely hard binding feeling? Slave lined up correctly. I'm thinking binding could be air???

Need help with clutch bleeding on 2000 Camaro 3.8L Series II 5 speed....do I have to push the clutch and hold to bleed then tight it, pull clutch then push again, bleed again then tight and pull clutch again? So how many times to bleed? I have no dry vacuum tool but I was watching at the last video without tool....how long to get the bubbles out? I'm doing by myself without someone help as I used a 2x4x3 board between pedal and driver's seat.

Hi, first time doing this. I installed new master. Doing the bleeding process and I'm getting no pedal. It still stays on floor and I have to pull it back up. Any ideas?? I'm doing this by myself until I can get a little pedal and will then see if I can get someone to operate the pedal while I open the bleeder or I'll have to drill a hole in the trans tunnel so I can do it completely by my self. TY

Working on a 2001 trans am. Replaced clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, bearings, had to tear it down 3 times to try to fix. Clutch pedal goes all the way down to the floor but car moves when in gear like clutch does not disengage. Also have really hard time getting car into gear at all when it is started. Aside from keep bleeding it, any ideas??

Hello great video. I have a ls1, t56 in my 3rd gen camaro in need of clutch replacement. Do you have to bleed the system every time you change the clutch because you have to remove the lines from the throw out bearing? And do you sell the tool to remove the hydraulic lines. I'm kinda lost and need help, first car clutch I've worked on. Thanks

Hello Gary..I am trying to bleed the clutch on my 1999 Z28 LS1 Camaro because I can´t get the shifter into any gear...I have looked at your videos and think I can get it right... but one big problem is what kind of tool you use to open and close the bleedscrew on side of the tranny above the hose going down from the master cylinder.. size millimeter or inch...the chromed tool Tim uses on the bleedscrew Big Thanks in Advance /RogerL in South Sweden

Hi I thought I had som air in the clutchsystem and I went crazy bout the tight fit of the bleednut in the tunnel...I made a 4"x4" cut inside of the car right side of gas pedal throgh interiormat and steelwall bending away the metal...had a vaccumpump from Ebay to suck new oil up from the oilreservoir..did the bleeding as told in the video up here..filled new oil 5-7 times and pumped and bleed several times...made a woodstick from a broomstick to hold down the pedal while bleeding...clutch got better but im not totally satisfied...maybe need to change the clutch mastercylinder and even slavecylinder with steelbraded hose between then....and if I change all that I can as well install a new complete clutch assembly....regards RL
