My 2000’s excursion battery kept dying cause the lights came on when all doors were closed. This helped so much, thanks!

Great advice! Worked perfectly. I only wish I had read the comment about removing the latch torque bolts and unplugging it from there, because unless you have really small hands you're likely to get bloody otherwise.

I have a 2003 and this didn't work, that is just unplugging the connectors. What I did with a small strand of wire was to jumper the plugs. That seems to do the trick. I think only one sensor was broken so going to just jumper that one. Hope this help others with later models.

Jumper the plugs?
@GarageProfessor8 ай бұрын
@jethrobodean8585 yes, their is a plug for the sensor, I just used a wire to make a connection across it and taped it up

With my big ole mitts I couldn’t pull the plug from inside the channel. I took the three torx screws from the latch and got it that way. Much easier and no alignment issues reinstalling. Thanks for the video. Problem solved! 👍

No problem pulling the whole latch out, unplugging the switch, flooding the whole assembly with contact cleaner then WD40 then a liberal injection of spray lithium grease. Plug everything back in and no more dome light problem.

Nice, I’ll try this on mine but why not just buy a new sensor for $10?

Tried this to no effect. Mechanic said doing this disrupts the closed circuit such that the problem would never resolve. I have a 2003 model so maybe the system was changed between 2000 and 2003? If not, this is a bad solution that did not work for me. There are 8 latches with sensors on excursions. Mechanic is advising latch replacement as the sensors seem to be doing what they are supposed to do. Hope this helps.

wd 40 is a bad choice for a switch i would recommend dry silicone or something dry and not conductive dry because you dont want the lubricant to get more dirt to stick to it and a conductive one can interfere with switch internally
@fortunatedad76953 жыл бұрын
Did you try cleaning out the latches really good with wd40 then spray lithium grease? I just bought this excursion this week and stumbled upon this problem. It seemed that the latches were just really caked with dirt but after cleaning and lubricating, the door closes now. Worth a try. Thanks for the video

Yes, as stated in the video I tried all the common tips and tricks, but none worked for me. Luckily this way worked for me as it was a last resort. Thanks for watching🤙🏽
@fortunatedad76953 жыл бұрын
@@LandsharkLark ok cool. Just wanted to make sure because I had to do this a few times and not just spray it in like in other videos but clean it because the dirt was so lodged in. 😜

I tried this and it didn't work for me. I'm not sure what else to do but disconnect my battery. Most cars have some kind of button on the door but I cannot find anything on my excursion
