2000 Ford Mustang Airbag/control Module replace/repair

For anybody doing this today and were wondering, the bracket that the module sits in, grounds the unit. I tried to just plug it in and keep where it was without attaching it to the bracket but the air bag alarm was still going off. After attaching it to the bracket, went away. Also, the easiest way to get it out after unbolting it, is to pull it out from the passenger side, just takes some finessing. Thanks for the video, helped a ton.

Did you have to do any programming for the module ? Or you just plugged it in and the light went away ?

Was there a sensor up front (bumper/radiator area) you needed to replace? Also did you replace your clock spring?

***** No sensor up front. (common misunderstanding) The air bags deploy when the seat-belts are jerked hard enough. Not because of a sensor by the bumper. Also yes, it is a good idea to replace your clock spring.

@@alfredoaguilar5074 I know this is old but this is inaccurate. Mine was struck by a large object very hard. There was no deceleration whatsoever and the bags still went off.

@@AdjourArcane hmmm must be multiple airbags sensors. Mine went out with the seat belt module.

Though our models are the same, I have a different module behind the center console. You have 2 different plugs, but mine are identical except coloration of the plugs (1 white 1 black). A doofus I know unplugged them without noting which goes where. Any chance you know?

so, i crashed my 1997 mustang and the airbags went off, i have the module and the airbags. how do i know if the front bumper sensors need to be replaced and how do i know if i need to reprogram the module, will it do it by itself? i heard that if i put them in without changing it all they will just go off on there own.

Hey I was wondering if the passenger airbag is supposed to fit loose? I put it back in and screwed the teo bolts on but the plastic on the dashboard isnt flush. It sticks out and I dont know how to fix that.

Jose mine stuck out abit aswell. It wasn't flush. You just have to play with it until you get it in just right

Gave up on trying to get my air bag light off so I took out the instrument panel and then took out the light bulb and put some electrical tape in hole then put the light back in. The tape blocks the bulb from lighting up the airbag light.

I also crashed my mustang and both passenger and drive bags deployed. After buying and installing new bags and module are you good to go or do you need to have sensors connected or is that already taken place when you connect the new airbags and module

You just need the air bags and module. Then reset the light with a scantool

is there a way to remove the air bag light without buying the airbag part? although its safer, I prefer not to have the air bag physically in my car because in my opinion it does more damage to my car than safety. 2004 mustang standard transmission.
