In Britain, in the 60s and 70s , the Jag Mk2 was actually the choice get away Car of Bank Robbers. The Police had to acquire their own to be able to chase them down.

Being a Brit and a Jag enthusiast myself it's great to see an American who loves these, not the most reliable cars, let's be honest 😅. Also thank you for pronouncing Jaguar properly 👍

I found in my 30K miles that once the common failure items are addressed - fuel pump, timing chain guides, etc. - it's actually been quite reliable.

They are a great car. When the time comes to change, don’t rule out a late Jaguar XF. Either V8 SC or 4cyl 300(bhp) AWD. They fixed a lot of the interior space issues. Ride well. Buy one for your wife!

I do have a soft spot for the XF-R

I love these. Would I pick one of these over an E39 M5 or W210 E55AMG? I dunno. Maybe I would, just because they're different, not something you see everywhere...not a first pick for most people. But I surely would work on whatever I had to, to improve its reliability regardless if the car had no issues earlier.

Agreed, it’s definitely not the obvious answer!

Yup you’ll need to rob a bank to pay for all the repairs 😂

Do you though? Stay tuned for a breakdown of my total outlay over almost 3 years of ownership.

@@autosnob the X type I once had was a nightmare. had the same vacuum line issues. Snow would get inside the rims and throw the wheels off balance. The coolant reservoir plastic rotted at the spigots for the rubber lines and failed requiring a tow on Sunday night looking for an all night repair shop. The paint and interior was very nice though.

Great car !! I have a 77 Daimler double six, a distant relative. There are some really good affordable saloons about these days. My daily is an E90 M3, possibly the best car I’ve ever owned.
