You are charging too much and wasting time at the chargers. Just try to arrive at your next stop with 10-20% left on your battery. Trust the Tesla navigation. I recently traveled 3,200 miles in the USA and often arrived at the next Super Charger with 5% to 10% left. No problem. The chargers slow down greatly after reach 70%.

In the West - absolutely, but in Eastern Europe not necessary a good idea - for instance in Poland we have so few charging stations that it is very likely to find one that is out of order, not yet operational (waiting for more than a year to be connected - true!), currently occupied, or ICEd. And the next one is like 50 km away, often in the city centre so you waste time like Dan in Timisoara. Fortunately new ones are installed but still it is better to apply the Pokemon rule - catch one when you see one :-)

Loved the road trip and great video. Just a friendly advice, I think you should trust the trip computer a bit more and try to arrive under 10% at superchargers which gets you the maximum charging speed and leave when you have enough to make it to the next one. Saves a lot of time overall. Also just for peace of mind, Tesla’s have a buffer even beyond 0% probably 20-30km but don’t blindly trust it, it can fluctuate if your battery management system is out of calibration. Just look at the power drop line near the speedometer if you see it getting shorter and shorter near 0%, don’t risk it. Also if you ever find yourself in a pinch, look into ways to quickly increase efficiency like dropping speed, turning off HVAC, follow a big truck from safe distance etc . Good luck

I applaud 👏 to the dedication to make such an informative video regarding traveling with EV in east europe. For such a long travel you should've planned for at least 8 hours of sleep at some hotel. Somebody should drive the same route with a similarly priced ICE vehicle with adaptive cruise control, i expect to be much shorter travel.

I did a 2000km trip in Europe once in a diesel and it was about 22 hours driving. Sounds like a very long trip. And for driving in que on the highway, yes the electric car doesn't use much battery but a diesel has 2 times the range! Not defending ICE mobility, may buy an electric car this year too. But ICE still has the range advantage!

Very nice video! I am watching little chunks every day when I have some spare time. I have just watched the part where you were stuck in traffic due to an accident (1h10 aprox). Does the car do everything automatically in such a situation? I know it can break automatically, but does it also start automatically again? I want to know if it would just follow the car in front of you because breaking and accelerating manually all the time is the worst part of traffic jams for me.

@@SDADanCars Thanks! That is so good to know. My car can keep the distance with the car in front, break when that car stops and if the stop is less than 5 seconds, then it can resume following. But for a longer stop then it requires you to hit the gas pedal. I think it is a "security feature", to make sure you are paying attention, but it is annoying.

6:45 Alright, im out. First mistake of EV driver. Charge battery to "close to full" (waiting to charge anything beyond 70%) and arrive at charger with more than 10% spare charge. There's little need to worry. In case that the car has underestimated and it looks like you will arrive with 0%, merely reduce speed by 10-20 kph. Furthermore from personal experience, the Model 3 and Model Y has around 30-40 km's extra in the battery, beyond 0%. Lastly, the trip computer can mostly be trusted, however in the event it cannot. You can actually see the power reduction on the display underneath speedo. The bar will start going dotted grey. See below. Normal display with no restrictions: ___________|__________ Reduced power: .........__|________ The closer the dots are to the centerline, the closer you are to vehicle shutdown. The trip computer guesstimates. Where as the dotted lines are actual measurements of charge and highly reliable as they are not based on driving history, and takes temperature into consideration.

Salut Robert 👍 Merci frumos Pentre aprecieri🙏 in Romania si Ungaria incarcarile sunt inca gratis....nu stiu cat le va mai tine gratis. Iar in celelalte tari eu încarc gratis ...inca mai am km gratis. Pretul in general este de 0.36 euro kw/h dar ajunge si mai jos in unele tari ...si chiar mai sus. Asta la Tesla Supercharger. MODEL 3 este de departe cea mai buna alegere de electrica in momentul asta....

Great movie, nice trip! I keep wondering why, o why they keep locating charging stations in city centres instead in rest areas at motorways. In the city, most people would charge at home, quick chargers are needed when you hit the road. Let's hope one day we will have as many chargers in our countries as in Norway :-).

Edu most of superchargers have a place to buy something or a toilet...some of them are close to Hotels so you can go inside at toilet. But if you arrive at night sometimes may be close and not all places have something to buy from. 👍

Hi Rok, I was charging for free because I had some free km. But I think only charging at Tesla Superchargers should cost you around 60 euro, depending on weather speed road conditions and temperatures 👍👍Anyway it is the best ev car quality price at moment

Charging to full will NOT save you travel time ! That is because charging the first 60% is MUCH faster than the last 40%. That;s why you will see Tesla's navigation plan for you multiple short stops instead of less, but longer stops. Don;t try to outsmart Tesla ;-) Also, drive as fast (120+) as possible/allowed. Yes, consumption will be higher, but the time advantage is larger than the longer charge time. So a time win.

Salut am de ales intre Tesla Model 3 SR+ MIC sau Audi Q4 45 Quatro (nu vreau Model 3 LR nu merita banii, Q4 e cu 9 000 euro mai scump dar primesc un SUV premium si cu baterie 82 kWh, Model Y LR e peste buget, e cu 20 000 euro peste M3 SR+) imi plac SUV-urile medii ca sunt confortabile pe drumurile proaste din Romania si pot parca pe borduri in Bucuresti si ca e hatchback. Visez demult sa cumpar Tesla Model 3, e si mai ieftina decat Q4, dar simt ca o sa imi para rau dupa achizite cum mi-a parut rau dupa ce am cumparat prima mea masina, bmw seria 3 coupe e92, mi-a placut cum arata, dar in exploatare, suspensia foarte rigida peste gropi, bordurile inalte nu le puteam urca, si nu era practica ca un hatchback. Ce sfat imi dai, merita mai multi bani Audi Q4 45 Quatro sau sa iau Tesla Model 3 SR+ si sa econimisesc bani? Multumesc anticipat daca raspunzi. Multumim pentru video-urile postate sunt super ❤️

Salut Dumitru, eu as cumpara Model 3 SR+ acum depinde cati km o sa mergi pe saptamana. Intradevar trebuie atentie la gropi si borduri mai ales cu masinile electrice care au bateria jos. Q4 este super frumos si mie imi place foarte mult dar consuma mai mult deci chiar daca bateria e mai mare o sa ai range la fel ca la sr+ probabil. Daca vrei cel mai bun autopilot si superchargere + baterie si motor care deja au trecut testul timpului eu as merge pe Tesla. Au mai multa experimental cu EV. Acum Audi e Audi. Este super masina....este greu sa alegi mai ales cu gropile din România. Poate daca as sta in Romania as lua si eu ceva cu garda mai inalta ...gen Model Y sau Q4 , ID4 sau chiar Ioniq 5 care este super si are si garda sus. Bafta in alegere. Oricum orice ai alege este o alegere buna arata timp cat nu te intorci la ICE. 👍🙂

@@dumitru_sirbu Salutare. Pana la urma ce ai ales și care sunt impresiile tale referitor la alegerea făcută? Am urmărit și eu Audi Q4, arata bine, dar la performanta și preț pare a nu fi competitiv cu Tesla 3 și nici la categorie. Poate poți compara Q4 cu model Y de la Tesla.

@@predacorneliu Am ales Q4 45 Quattro. Model Y intradevar e in clasa cu Q4, insa Model Y era mult peste bugetul meu, e cu 8 000 euro mai scumpa decat Q4 cu dotarile alese de mine, de mentionat ca am primit o reducere de peste 10 000 euro de la dealer si nu sunt unicul, cred ca toti au primit reduceri mari. Am comandat Model 3 in luna mai, apoi in iulie am facut test drive, atunci am inteles ca nu vreau sedan vreau SUV, si am inceput sa caut ce mai este pe piata. Hyundai Kona (nu mi-a placut de loc, dar de loc), VW ID 4 (UX foarte prost, touch-uri inervante, as fi preferat sa aiba un interior de passat din 2011 si era mult mai bine), Skoda Enyaq (mai bun ca ID4, mai mare, dar m-am simtit ca in renault zoe pe care il aveam atunci, dar mai mare, nici un salt in emotiile transmise de masina, e o masina care te duce din A in B foarte confortabil, dar atat), insa cand am urcat in Q4 m-am indragostit, pe poza nu mi-a placut, insa in realitate, s-a simtit un salt clar de la renault zoe, si totul e foarte bine gandit comparativ cu ID4, are 4 butoane la geamuri, are infotainment facut de Audi ca la Audi Q8, A8, nu ca la Vw sau Skoda, eu lucrez in IT si nu pot suporta User Experience (UX) prost, la Audi totul e bine gandit, rapid, butoane de clima, butoane pe volan nu doar touch, buton la avarii (la ID4 e touch butonul de avarii, am apasat sa spun multumesc si asa a ramas avaria pornita, nu puteam sa o opresc). Tatal meu a comandat Model Y o sa pot compara direct Q4 si Model Y, fratele are Model S 100D, mama ID3, o sa pot compara toate masinile. Q4 meu va ajunge abia in primavara, mi-au dat 6 luni pentru livrare... Nu exista masina perfecta, toate au avantaje si dezavantaje, timpul va arata daca am facut o greaseala sau am ales bine, suntem oameni facem alegeri emotionale, uneori ne iese uneori nu, pana la urma sunt niste fiare, pace, liniste in suflet, sanatate si bucurie sa avem, restul se rezolva.

Felicitari pentru video! Din pacate drumurile din Romania sunt cam "stricate". Nu s-au investit bani pentru infrastructura rutiera din Romania. Si oricum daca se investea garantia pentru o lucrare era de 1-2 ani. GUVERNANTII nu inteleg ca - daca vrei sa ai turisti trebuie sale asiguri conditii decente de transport si cazare. Dar oricum speram sa se mai indrepte lucrurile pe aici. Succes in continuare.

Many times I see you driving on the left lane. Why? Doesn't the rules state ride in the right lane unless overtaking? I state this because so many eastern europeans come driving in The Netherlands and Belgium, and they constantly drive in the wrong lanes. Really annoying.

Dislike. De ce ? Aproape tot drumul pana sa intri in romania ai circulat cu viteza intre 100 si 130. Apoi ti-ai aratat nemultumirea ca pe anumite portiuni in romania ai avut limita 100. Platesti taxe si impozite in elvetia, incarci moca in romania si pe urma iti arati nemultumirea ca nu avem autostrazi. Really ? Autostrazile se fac cu bani. Tu ar trebui sa fii ultimul care isi arata nemultumirea. Ai platit o amarata de vinieta si vrei autostrazi. Ai dormit in masina in loc sa platesti o camera la hotel. Eu încarc gratis in toata Europa Gabriel 🙂 Am platit si eu taxe in Romania si am adus destul bani in Ro. Trebuie sa accepti realitatea ....inca nu sunt autostrazi, inca mor multi oameni in accidente pe sosele din pacate ....

@@SDADanCars daaaa perfecta dreptate. Nu avem autostrazi. Autostrazile se fac cu bani. Voi care sunteti stabiliti de cativa ani prin vestul europei aveti costuri si platiti taxe si impozite pe acolo de zeci de ori mai mari decat in romania. Cum naiba sa avem autostrazi cu incasari de 10 de ori mai mici? In plus suntem deficitari si la educatia fiscala, chiar si incasarile alea mici nu prea se fac pentru ca multi romanii traiesc de pe o zi pe alta. Si ca o comparatie, in germania impozitele anuale la masini incep cam de pe la 200 euro , in romania masinile sub 2000cmc au impozit sub 40 euro.
