What a night that was. I was there, sitting in the upper deck, along the right field line. Shea rocked that evening, it was one of the loudest, that I had ever witnessed, being at a game at Shea. It was a baseball game, and a New Years party, all rolled into one.

I feel bad for Hentgen. The Cards defense in the 1st inning was atrocious. Always in the wrong spot, multiple hits that were borderline errors, and at least 1 actual error.

Oh wow, I never knew Pat Hentgen (Cardinals starting pitcher) was with the Cardinals in 2000. Pat was the 1996 Al Y Young award winner with Toronto, when he won 20 games that season. He also won two rings with Toronto in 1992-1993, and even won 19 games in 1993

What a difference between BOBBY VALENTINE and his aggresive style of managing compared to LUIS ROJAS passive, laid back type of managing. The METS had guys who could hit and run and hit behind the runner, like EDGARDO ALFONSO and McQUEEN when he was with the METS. They helped produce runs right away.
@joselopezmoya97863 жыл бұрын
With LUIS ROJAS these METS don't know how to hit and run, hit behind the runner and even bunt with any consistency.

I know there's a narrative being had that the Mets were lucky the Cards knocked off the Braves but I feel even had they met, the Mets likely would have gotten them in the postseason for once. I mean the same Cards that beaten the Braves later got wiped out in 5 games by the Mets and in addition, the Mets pitching were an upgrade from 1999 while the Braves weren't as strong as they were the year before. I believe this could have been the one time in the era where the Mets would have won against the Braves in the big game.
@JoseGarcia-et2ep8 ай бұрын
I agree bro…by 2000, the Mets were ready for that challenge, they were ready for the braves, 2000 was going to be the year that the Mets just for once were going to beat Atlanta in the postseason…but at the same time I’m was happy we have to face them😊let’s go Mets ❤
