The series was the peak of the 90's New York Renaissance. The Rangers won the 1994 Stanley Cup, the Giants won Super Bowl XXV, Patrick Ewing led the Knicks, the Devils won two championships, and the Yankees championship revival. The Cold War ended, and immigrants were flocking to the United States, surpassing Ellis Island. The Twin Towers became a global icon. New York's brand skyrocketed.

And this was all off the greatest closer in history. Yanks go into 9th up 6-0 & barely hang on for the 6-5 W. Imagine making a doc on the 2000 WS & not showing one moment from this insane 9th inning. If there was anything remotely resembling something positive in nature with respect to that horrific tragedy on 9/11 it was in the immediate aftermath of that day something genuinely beautiful happened, for a little while New Yorkers came together as one and nobody saw age/race/gender/religion/etc etc. The only thing that they saw was another New Yorker and for a little while we came together to help someone out if they were in need, people were more respectful and kind to one another because were all in this together and trying to recover from the unimaginable shock of what took place. We were also very mindful that some of our neighbors may have been unaccounted for or perhaps one of their family members or maybe one of our own family members/friends and everyone needed each other for strength and support which was readily available even for a complete stranger. How I wished that this would have lasted permanently! 😔 I also remember that first game after that tragic day that the Yankees resumed the season at Yankee stadium and seeing the tattered American flag from ground zero flying in the stadium and seeing the Yankees take the field along with various first responders and thinking to myself that everything was somehow going to be okay and that we were all going to get through this together as New Yorkers.
