1:09:52 One of my favorite winners interview comments of all time. This one really stuck with me; very humble and genuine.

So this was the first regular tour stop after the Masters, and after the Microsoft guys bought out the PBA. It is interesting to see the older Fox Sports broadcasts of the PBA before it eventually returned to them in 2019.

Those spares impressed the heck out of me, impressed me more than the strikes.

Shafer was a staple on the telecasts when I first got into bowling in the early 2000s. He was super consistent.

Northrock Lanes. My home center. Probably the best scoring and best carrying bowling alley I've been to.

❤ Ryan Shafer, a prince, and always the most unique ball reaction. Such a beautiful moment at the end when Randy is interviewing Ryan. 💯❤️

He was so proud. One of the best champion interviews I can remember. Great guy too. Ryan went out of his way to compliment a 19 year old me who nobody knew in a regional for having an impressive game.

EnigmaZero, It looks like you are planning to upload the MSN Open from 2000. Also, It was a great Title match of the Wichita Open between Ryan Shafer and Bob Learn Jr.

Great seeing a telecast where Ryan Shafer won. He's from my area and bowls from time to time at my bowling alley. Saw him a couple months ago in fact.

Southern Tier? I’m from Western NY. I started bowling regionals around the time when Ryan won his titles and was an established top player. He went out of his way to tell me I had a great game even though I was just a nobody college kid. I never forgot that.

It's very hard to imagine that Randy Pedersen has been doing the PBA shows for nearly 25 years. Longer than I've been alive.
@enigmazero86246 ай бұрын
It really is. I can’t believe he’s been doing it longer than Bo Burton did, which seemed like forever when I was growing up.

@@enigmazero8624 Who do think was the best/worst PBA play-by-play commentator? For me, worst is Jim Kelly, best is Rob Stone, with honorable mentions being Dave Ryan and Dave LaMont.
@enigmazero86246 ай бұрын
@@TheCD5150 good question! Jim Kelly - definitely horrible Rob Stone - when he first started I could not stand him, but he has grown on me. I appreciate that he seems to genuinely be interested in the players and what happens on the Tour Dave Ryan - literally could be replaced with a cardboard cutout. No personality whatsoever. He’s very professional and makes sure to hit all the talking points he’s told to, but he has no clue about how bowling works. I can’t say anyone is the best other than the classic Chris and Bo, but my low key other favorite was Mike Durbin.

@@enigmazero8624 for me Best Mike J he been involved in the PBA since the 90s and he is a really great guy Worst John Fanta cant stand him super annoying shouts all the time and knows nothing about the game and this is him Bowler gets a Brooklyn or some sort of ugly strike Fanta HE COMES OUT FIRING HE A GREAT BOWLER seriously and like i said to you the other day i even heard a rumor that randy cant even stand him he just acts nice to him for the Camera every time a event comes on and i hear his voice im like oh dear its a John Fanta event get prepared for unnecessary for you guys worst i know Jim Kelly terrible but i honestly rather watch him over John Fanta any day of the week

When Parker Bohn’s wife Leslie was pregnant with Justin they congratulated them on a telecast and Jim Kelly said “oh, could there be a Parker IV on the way?” When in actuality Parker already had a son named Parker IV from his previous marriage who was like 12 years old at the time. To me that’s inexcusable for a professional broadcaster to not do that basic research before saying something like that.

I actually thought that was a very genuine moment and showed humility. As much confidence as someone has, you can never REALLY know you can do something until you do it. I remember thinking Shafer would really take off after this win and emerge as one of the top players.
