I was 10 years old when I was at this race, I saw Jeff Gordon win on his home track. Brings back a lot of memories from back then when I used to love NASCAR.

@Mr. GTO . . . I've been a spectator at both Laguna Seca (back in its old course configuration) and Sears Point, where Sears Point always provided better racing with dicing among the lead drivers than what I ever saw at Laguna Seca. While the setting of Laguna Seca is picturesque, as TV announcers would label it, the racing there has mostly been like a parade of high-performance machinerys; where the cars would spread apart; and lead changes took place due to pit stops . Whereas Sears Point, I've been treated to witnessing marvelous duels among the lead drivers; where the view from turn four offers spectators a view of much of the race course. With Laguna Seca, because of where the hill is situated, not so.

@@bloqk16 Yes, Sears Point is a better Nascar track but I would still like to see Nascar at Laguna Seca.. the upper part of the track is where you see lots of passing

The irony of that John Andretti crash. Very similar to Pettys last race. And STP ends it the same way.

I was a kid when I seen this race. It was raining where I was living in Florida & I fell asleep to only wake up to Jeff Gordon winning. It was pretty cool.

The published length of these races always annoys me, when NASCAR boldly show *350* for the distance, but somehow don't say it is _kilometres,_ and not miles. I guess this race would not resonate as well with the public if it was accurately displayed, in miles, as: *Save Mart/Kragen 223.*

But like GTA SA. Ella betrayed her dad by sabotaging the sears point raceway. Triggered 2-Stars wanted level. GTA SA Police Scanner: We found 10-53 at the sears point raceway. Suspect is last seen on foot.

Wait was this supposed to be the last race at this track? They mentioned that they were saying goodbye to Sonoma and thanking Burton smith for his hospitality and they always enjoyed coming here!? I wasn’t alive when this race took place so Idk but that would be weird if this was supposed to be the final race at this was supposed to be the final race at Sonoma

This was ESPN's last year broadcasting Cup races until they returned years later.

Already mentioned before me, but this was ESPN’s final broadcast from this track until their coverage of Cup Series racing returned in 2007. A new TV deal that went into effect in 2001 saw FOX, NBC and TNT take over airing the action.

Which was sad because ESPN (and TNN) put NASCAR on the TV map in the 80's & 90's. A time when the big boys CBS, NBC, ABC and later FOX would hardly even give NASCAR a glance. NASCAR just brushed ESPN to the side saying "we don't need you anymore, so get lost".Once the big networks, multi-million $ deals took over, that is when NASCAR lost their roots and went down with the avalanche
