$2000 SC430 BUILD PT. 4 - Full Vinyl Wrap + Exterior Transformation!

Hello everyone! Today we will be transforming the entire exterior of our $2000 Lexus SC430. We are going to be wrapping it and adding some other small touches to try and modernize it a bit. Our goal was to stay pretty close to the original look, but also update it so it doesn't look so much like a 22 year old car. Let us know down below what you guys think, I know nardo grey isn't everyone's cup of tea but I think it turned out super good and looks 10x better than when we first got the car! You did a great job, it looks nice but I like the original color but the change is nice.. Go with a nice 20” wheel mesh style or 5 star design(just DONT GET BLACK RIMS go for HMC or gunmetal grey). PLEASE sell this car to me once you’re done, my kid & I wants it badly!!!!!!

I have the 2001 sc430 and I put spacers on all 4 wheels with original rims. Looks great with 15mm in front and 25mm on the rear. You should definitely try it!

I love the black roof....but...it looks a bit odd to me with the satin finish. I think it might look better if it were the same finish as the gray. A bit more OEM, like it could've/should've come like that. Small gripe about a clean build! Edit: I spoke too soon....the daylight makes a difference!!! Looks great!!!

Yeah I was torn on the roof! Wasn’t sure if I should do it grey, gloss black, or satin black. @@Atlanticbeachcustoms ...I'm serious....you have a knack for this thing here, keep it going!! I'm a massive fan of OEM plus when it comes to modding my cars. If I wrap the Lexus it won't be anything outlandish. It's a 2 tone champagne with a grey on the bottom rockers. The paint is probably the best factory car paint I've ever encountered...but the plastic lower portion is taking a beating in this AZ sun. I'm thinking a solid color over the entire car....a pearl white...or a nice burgundy maybe with the badges blacked out. But...I'm terrified of the wrap demolishing the clear coat!! Should I be worried about that?

@@ferrynpalmer3875 Well that really means a lot, seriously thanks so much!! Gotcha gotcha, is the clear coat peeling or lifting up at all or is it just faded? Wraps are pretty incredible, they normally wont lift up any paint or clear coat on the original paint! But if it’s been repainted or if the clear coat is chipping already you do run a risk of having some of it come off when you remove the wrap. I’m on instagram @atlanticbeachcustoms if you could send me some pics I might be able to get a better idea!

Looks Great! I love my 04 SC! BTW, I'm sure you've realized there is no place on the rear of the vehicle to open the trunk with a key. There is a latch in the lower-level armrest UNDER the carpet. It will release the trunk. When I bought my new SC 20 years ago, I accidentally dropped my keys in the trunk and couldn't start the car. I had to call the dealership. Anyway, great video! @@Atlanticbeachcustoms I'm glad I helped. My SC is mint with 63k on the clock. I bought her new in 2004 from Falk Lexus in Beverly Hills, California - and no, I don't live in BH. I have been fortunate enough to have owned other cars simultaneously that I've also enjoyed without putting miles on the SC. EVERYTHING works beautifully in these cars. The 2004-2008 LS sedans were also works of art. Those are damn sexy sedans. The SC was called "The Crown Jewel" of Lexus during its production years and had the highest resale of ANY car during those years. It amazes me what these cars are still fetching in price. I paid about $64K new. To me, they look expensive Japanese. I think they'll be even more collectible in the future. Lexus over-engineered these cars to compete against Mercedes during this early period with their cars - before Lexus was LEXUS. As long as you replace the timing belt every 100k, which you did, these cars are solid and will last many years. I have no squeaks or rattles. Everything works brilliantly. The Lexus 8 cylinder is like butter. I've only had two problems since new. Front passenger side oxygen sensor ended up melded to the manifold - Lexus dealer $2900.00 to drill it off. Three screws connecting one of my Lexus Chrome wheels had to be removed by a Lexus Mechanic - $1300.00. I've owned Cadillacs, a 2003 Tacoma (21 years), a Miata (most fun you can have in a car with your pants on) and a couple of Jaguars. I live in Rancho Mirage California - you know, Palm Springs. There are several of these SCs as garage queens for the snowbirds that live out here. And it's also weird out here because Rancho Mirage has a population of 18 thousand people, but its Rolls Royce and Bentley Dealership sell more cars here than anywhere else in the United States. Go figure. Anyway, I have never got tired of my SC and I still look back at her as I walk away from her. Enjoy your car. You're doing a terrific job with her.

For $500 you can change the color of your car, and there are LIMITLESS color options that you could never get from paint. Wraps can also protect your factory paint from minor scuffs and scratches as well. Don’t get me wrong painting is great, but if you’re like me and you like changing up the look of your car every now and then while also keeping the factory paint underneath in good condition then it’s a must✅

Turned out awesome! Great work! Wheel spacers and coilovers will change the look and make it look more modern imo. I went with H&R 20mm in the front, 30mm in the rear and coilovers. Black out the exhaust tips and tint next?

No rubbing at all. Even without coilovers it look much better. But I wanted a firmer and more responsive ride. I have a little more than an inch gap and settings on the coilovers are set in the middle.

Just a Blitz Advance Power Air Cleaner to hear a little throaty sound. I personally feel this air filter is perfect. You hear it on high rev but absolutely stock while cruising. Highly recommend it. I wanted to keep as much OEM as possible. Also upgrade my tires to Michelin P4s 255/40 18.

I normally don't love gray wraps. However, with the black roof and the black wheels and grill, this looks fantastic, especially with the smoked tail lights. I would have been tempted to do the whole car in the satin black if it were me. Luckily, it wasn't. This looks good. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished car. Nice build!

Yeah I tried checking and found no record of when it had been done last. No markings anywhere and I found no record of it from recent service histories. I’ve been debating what to do, I feel like I should get those both changed in case but I want to see how it goes fixing up these current problems first. What would you recommend?

@@Atlanticbeachcustoms You already know what I'm going to say. 😎 If you plug the VIN into the Lexus Owner's Portal and there is no record of it being done, at the very least do the timing belt. People often do both at the same time because it makes so much sense to do so. Having them both done will also make it easier to sell and add value to the car. People who know what this is know it is an interference engine, and a recent timing belt/WP makes it a more attractive prospect.

They are definitely unique! I’ve never hated them like most people do. The tires are pretty bad so I have to replace those anyway, would you buy new wheels altogether or keep the monoblock ones and just replace the tires and add some spacers?🤔

@@Atlanticbeachcustoms Personally, the purist in me would not have painted the wheels black but instead refinished/repaired them if they were worn looking. With that said, if budget allows, I would buy new wheels since the stocks need new rubber anyway. Depending on how wide you go and the offset, you can skip the spacers with the right setup.

While I can appreciate your work and effort on this build, I personally think red tint overlays on the tail lights wouldve looked classier along with hyper silver paint on the wheels. The trunk lid spoiler shouldve been color matched nardo… lastly, ebay has clear led side markers for $60 (fronts and back) but the build is still nice

Fair enough! I’m planning on some new wheels altogether, just wanted to play around with these ones for the time being. Also I agree, I think I might wrap that spoiler gray! I’ll have to check out those markers, thanks so much for your input and feedback!🤙🏼

Looks bad ass! I have a red one. Thinking about going with matte red. With yours, I would tint the lights and go with an aftermarket wheel! Still bad ass!!

When I took my first lexus to the dealership, all they did was remove the sensor for the vsc light which I thought was lazy on their end lol and now my newest lexus I have still has the issue

@@sergio_ra Absolutely! It’s definitely got a learning curve and takes some practice but if you’ve got some patience and a week then definitely go for it. There are lots of good KZbin videos on how to vinyl wrap
